Why is this so difficult to find ???

Why arnt gold taps normal like chrome ones ??

The only one I can find is the olif tap and waste, it's quite expensive and out of stock anyway!

Can someone magic one up for me from somwhere ? I've looked at IKEA ones and I don't like them.

I'm pretty sure I saw a gold one in a howdens catalogue today.

SavoyCabbage · 25/09/2018 21:08

There are loads when I google. Though I admit I haven’t looked for wastes.

SavoyCabbage · 25/09/2018 21:08

Actually the waters come up as linked items on amazon.

Rosita · 25/09/2018 21:31

Abode Ludlow and Gosford comes in antique bronze which looks gold to me! They are my top two - can’t decide between them at the moment. Have no idea about waste though.

nutellaontoastgirl · 25/09/2018 21:42

Yes it's the waste that's the issue !!!

Why are there no gold wastes ???

If you get them, whatever you do do not use bleach or anything containing bleach on them. It permanently marks them and you cannot restore the original finish.

Worieddd · 25/09/2018 22:14

More importantly why are you getting gold?!

PigletJohn · 25/09/2018 22:55

Bristan makes gold-finished versions of many of their taps. There are a good quality range, long-lived and maintenance parts readily available (quite the reverse of many imported or unbranded taps). You can see the range on www.bristan.com/homeowners-home
and you may see them retailed at discount, though the gold ones are not popular. Any plumbers merchant can order them for you.

They are not popular because the finish is nowhere near as durable as chrome. If you have very soft water, or a water softener, they will last longer because you will not have to clean scale off them.

PigletJohn · 25/09/2018 23:00

p.s.

they also make good quality wastes. The newish "clicker" ones are very neat with no chain. I like this one with the bigger "mushroom"
You can unscrew the top by hand if you need to get something out, like hair or earrings.

Avoid pop-up wastes of any make. They leak.

anniehm · 25/09/2018 23:05

Look on plumb centre's website, total plumbing, Victoria bathrooms perhaps. Gold is not in fashion at the moment

nutellaontoastgirl · 26/09/2018 08:55

Second Bristan, although one of their wastes was so pale it didn't look gold next to our tap so check that. We ended up ordering a Deva tap which came with matching waste.

wowfudge · 26/09/2018 09:42

You don't need to use on pretty much anything, I know a lot of people do though.

nutellaontoastgirl · 26/09/2018 09:53

Fudge I use a lot of flash bleach spray in my kitchen for stain removal of things like tumeric. That's why I couldn't go for painted oak doors.

Thanks for the deva reccomendation stepping, am having a look.

The annoying thing about looking for a gold tap is say you want it to be a filter tap or pull out (or both) as well, the options are so limited! It's like, here's a gold tap, what more could you ask for!

Hello nuttellaontoastgirl Grin

I can’t find your original thread link me!

wowfudge · 26/09/2018 10:30

Barkeeper's Friend is great for removing turmeric and other marks and doesn't contain bleach. Having a spoon rest - I use a silicone mat - so most marks aren't directly on the work surface helps.

bellsbuss · 26/09/2018 10:45

I had them in my kitchen and bathroom in my first house, bleach turned the waste green and the taps lost their shine very quickly

nutellaontoastgirl · 26/09/2018 12:25

@Elloelloello123 wooowww love that!

I'm going for a mixed metals look in my kitchen so these handles are polished brass and the tap I was after was brass not gold, sorry if that's different but they look the same to me Grin

Now I'm wondering if the handles plus taps in brass will be overkill as my centre light will also be brass. Also as i have two sinks , two brass/gold taps might be abit much/in your face.

Where can I find a gold kitchen tap and waste ?
