Polyflor LVT - What colour design strips?!

Hello Mumsnetters,

We have decided to lay Polyflor LVT in Tan Limed Oak (pictured!) in our kitchen and are planning on using the design strips to make it look more like floorboards. However, there are so many choices of colour and I have no idea which is the best colour to go for!

Has anyone used the design strips with this floor/a similar coloured floor and if so, what colour did you go for? Even if you haven't used this floor, please feel free to give me your opinion on what colour design strips to use!

I'd think what actual boards would look like and go slightly darker. Get some samples of the ones you think will work and the actual lvt tiles and try them next to each in different places round the room and at different times of day. We have a different Polyflor oak look lvt without design strips - I never even thought of using them to make it look more like floorboards.

Thanks for the suggestions! Very good idea to see what the real thing looks like - I've just had a look at different floorboards and I think it'll need to be something fairly dark so that's already ruled out a couple of the colours!

Unfortunately they don't seem to do samples of the design strips, which is a bit frustrating. I might see if any of the local flooring shops sell them so I can have a look in store..

And yes, we had LVT in our last home and didn't go for the design strips either. I feel like not having design strips make it feel more modern and polished?

Try ringing Polyflor - they are in Bury, Greater Manchester - and asking them for some design strip samples.
