How much should this job cost?

We want our front wall to be shortened to the red line shown in the photo. This will involve cutting out the section of wall, using some of the bricks to rebuild the edging, drilling out the concrete in the adjacent area (where it looks like the wall has been shortened in the past), and filling in with matching paving.

How much would you expect this to cost? I've got some builders in doing some other jobs this week and they have quoted me an extra £X to do the wall, which is more than I though it would be. I realise I can get alternative quotes, but as these builder are here now, if I could be convinced the quote was reasonable then I would give them the go-ahead.

How much have you been quoted?

I was hoping to get some independent views, so didn't include it. But £650.

I was going to say in the £500 range

Is it more than 1 day's work?

Anyone recognise the paving slabs so I can check the cost of them online?

In Yorkshire, I'd say half of your quote. That's a days work and the material costs are minimal.

Slabs are cheap less than £5 each.
I would expect a day for a man and a helper. Cost price about 300
