Help washer making grinding sound.

My washer is making a horrendous grinding/grating sound when it’s draining. It does manage to drain, but it’s not happy about it.

I’ve checked the filter and it’s empty.

The drum turns when I move it by hand, without any sound or impediment that I can feel.

I don’t mind turning the damn thing on is edge to have a nosy, but if anyone has a clue what the issue might be I’d be incredibly grateful for some pointers.

Chuffing white goods are a pain in the arse!

Sounds like its struggling to drain - is the drain hose blocked at all?

I’m going to chuck it on its side and poke it. Wish me luck.

does it make a noise when spinning?

are there any black or metallic specks on your washing?

How old is it?

The washing has been clear PigletJohn, and the noise seems to be mainly the drainage. The machine is currently empty, and the drum spins freely with no noise, if that helps?

might be coins in the pump. The instructions may describe how, after turning off the power and opening the filter, you poke around with your fingers.

Thanks. There was 1p in the filter, so here’s hoping it’s not too traumatic!
