3 bedrooms: how to fit teen, toddler, baby + adults

Correctly we have...
Bedroom 1: parents
Bedroom 2: toddler (will be 2 when baby born)
Bedroom 3 (smallest): teen who is here 3 nights in every fortnight.
New baby will sleep with us until 6-9m, but what then?
It's surly not fair to make teen sleep in with either toddler or baby. And at 6-9m, will that be a nightmare to be sharing with toddler come nap / bedtime? Seems silly as there's another room free 11nights of the fortnight?
What do others do / suggest?

I'd have baby and toddler share, and baby sometimes naps in teens' room (discuss this with teen)

I'd be tempted to put toddler in a toddler bed in with you for the 3 nights that teenager is there until you're happy that baby and toddler can share.

Otherwise, can you convert loft?

SoyDora · 22/09/2018 16:19

I’d just put the baby in with the toddler.

MessySurfaces · 22/09/2018 16:20

(I'd also keep the baby in with you much much longer 'cos I hate leaving my bedroom to deal with night waking...)

Baby and toddler together. The teenager shouldn't have their personal space invaded by a tiny , particularly when they aren't there all the time and could possibly feel less important. It will be nice for the little ones to share anyway. By the time they are teenagers and might want privacy for homework , friends etc your current teen will have left Home.

Baby with toddler or in with you for longer if night waking an issue.

Toddlers normally sleep through baby noise apparently.

sdaisy26 · 22/09/2018 16:47

Baby with you for as long as possible then in with toddler.

howabout · 22/09/2018 16:51

Put the baby in with the toddler. Usually what small DC prefer anyway.

Best thing I ever did was baby napping in travel cot in teens room during the day. That child would sleep in that travel cot anywhere!

Overnight baby and toddler share it's really not an issue Confused

Baby and toddler together. My eldest was,8 and 10 when his brothers were born and it would have been unfair to make him share at that age. My toddler and baby shared, they are 21 months apart and now 7 and 5 and still share, by choice.

SodTheBloodyLotOfThem · 22/09/2018 18:14

Baby sleeps in cot at night and in pram during day? My DS still sleeps in his pram (18 months) which is handy for getting out of the house.

Amazing response. Thank you so much for the advice. Concensus suggests that baby and toddler should be fine sharing so I'll stop worrying and let my husband know that we don't need to move house haha! Good idea about napping in travel cot in teen's room, will try that when the time comes.

Baby and toddler share. If toddler is 2 when baby is born, then keep baby in your room until 1 ish, and then they will be 1 and 3. By that point baby can nap in shared bedroom in the day, and if you need to split i would just let 3 year old nap or look at books quietly on your bed. Its a nice age gap that by sharing bedroom they can play together, with shared toys and books.
