Have a clear out now. Designate an area/room/large box where you put the things you don't want to get packed and put on the van - e.g. manuals for anything staying in the house, cleaning stuff and so on. Pack a suitcase with clothes etc for a couple of days at the other end.
Empty bins or they'll get packed with the contents.
I had a plastic box with cleaning products that didn't get packed and as rooms were emptied I cleaned them. The box then went in the car with me so I could clean anything that needed it at the other end. I put some loo roll, hand wash and bin bags in too - door mats went in the bin bags as one of last things to be packed up. The hoover went in the car too.
There was another box with kettle, tea and coffee making stuff, mugs, some crockery and cutlery that didn't get packed and also went in the car. We also kept a toolkit, extension leads, remote controls, etc separate from what was packed.
I spoke to the foreman of the packers and showed them what I didn't want packing, etc.
The bathroom was packed on moving day morning - I had to rescue damp towels from being used to pack things and put them in a bin liner and took them in the car or we'd have had them go smelly, etc in boxes.
Clean appliances you are leaving in the house and in fact if you are taking them with you, clean them a few days before moving. We ran down freezer and fridge contents and defrosted and cleaned the fridge freezer we sold to our buyers. The frozen stuff we had left was put in an insulated bag with cold blocks and went straight into the freezer at the other end.
