Lining up island with kitchen units?

Any thoughts on this as I am going around in circles?
I have a straight run of base and wall units with an induction hob in the centre.
Parallel to this I have an island 1200mm away. The island is linear and to seat 5 and will have the sink on it. There is a very ornate ceiling rose above which is immovable and it will house the centre pendant with another pendant either side...however, the island needs to be slightly off centre of this.
Can I get away with the island units not aligning with the wall units or am I over thinking this whole scenario?
I've attached a photo of the look I am trying to achieve....

I love symmetry! And lines that line up :)

In the situation you describe it would be more important to me to have the island centrally places with the ceiling rose than the cupboards. If the three pendants are going to hang above the island (like your picture) then then, for me, the centre pendant would have to be the one in the rose, and the pendants would have to be centrally placed on the island.

If the island has a front half (for the sink) and a back half (for the seating) then the pendants could be central to the whole island or central to the seating half.

I wouldn't worry about lining up the island with the cupboard unless it is easy to accommodate. If it is easy to accommodate then I'd absolutely line it up!

It would bug me all the time if the ceiling pendant was off. So I would have to line that up. And the rose would have to be the centre of 3. That would be my priority. That and ensuring there is good flow between sink & hob for eg when you’re holding a hot pan & need to drain it.

Thanks folks...you are all right...and have just confirmed that I need to go back to the drawing board...it'll be worth it in the end!

I've thought some more Blush

I think the rose being the centre pendant is negotiable if the kitchen units are on one side of the room. So if you were having the kitchen at one end/side of a room and a dining/seating area on the other side, then the rose could be the last pendant before the "other room" starts. I know what I mean, but I have no idea if that makes sense to anyone else! I'm not sure that will be the case in a 5x4m room though.

Ok, here the amended drawings with the island centred on the centre rose and one pendant either side. I'm avidly following the Hemsley thread as they are the units I will be ordering.
More tweaking needed, but getting there, thanks!
