Hi all. We are hoping to relocate to farnham and looking at houses but we don't know the area well. Can anyone tell me honest opinions about the following areas -

The area immediately around the hospital
The area by Weydon Hill Road
Lower and Upper Hale more generally

We've got two kids - 2.5 and 6mths so we're especially looking at crime levels and safety, good nurseries and schools (dont need to be outstanding but would like good). Plus anything of note people from out of the area might not know. We know about Heath End changes and the Wool mead development but not much else!

Thanks for any insights :)

It's a long time since I lived in Farnham, but the only area I know to avoid is The Chantrys, which is at the other end of the High Street to the hospital. I think the area around the hospital is ok ish, but it's generally a very expensive area, not many bargains to be had!

Crime wise I think it's a fairly safe area - I never saw anything to concern me in the 10 years I lived there. I'm an advocate of renting in an area if you don't know it, before buying. That gives you time to find the right area and property.

Not terribly helpful, I know, but good luck!

I live in Farnham and have all my life. I’ve lived in the Chantrys, Hale and Badshot Lea. To be honest, it’s always been safe and there are no truly terrible areas. All the schools are good, my dd is at Hale and is flourishing. But there is a bit of a north south divide. The north side (where I live) has always been considered the poor relation but I wouldn’t live on the south side!
