Didn't think I wanted something particularly unusual or anything but I'm not having much luck. I want wall mounted, mirrored, traditional style, 600mm wide with a knob not a handle. The only one I've managed to find that's close is in the link below. It's kind of pricey but if it didn't have the open shelf at the bottom I'd get it.

I've tried bathstore, soak, b&q, Homebase, Victorian plumbing, wilko, Ikea. No joy. Help!

this is the closest i can find. www.amazon.co.uk/Traditional-Single-Bathroom-Mirror-Cabinet/dp/B01HGSTQ94?ref=ast_p_pc_rc&tag=mumsnetforum-21

this one from wayfair is 66cm wide

or Aldi have one that's 50cm, and is £7!

minipie · 12/09/2018 18:36

If you search using "bathroom cabinet painted mirror 600" a few come up though does take some sifting through

imsorryiasked · 12/09/2018 18:43

Dunelm have a pale grey version of the one you linked for £40. And a couple of others here

imsorryiasked · 12/09/2018 18:47

Is this ikea cabinet no good?

shockedballoon · 12/09/2018 19:24

The amazon one looked promising, but it's too short (plus the only review was troubling!)- needs to be a decent overall size as it's the only cabinet actually in the bathroom. However it can't be over 600mm at all or the bathroom door or the airing cupboard (which holds towels and the boiler) will bang on it - the gap between them is pretty much 600mm on the nose.
There are a few on Wayfair that are almost there, but still not quite right. Same on Dunelm - plus it has to be white.
Ikea one is too modern and scandi looking, which is nice, but wouldn't suit our bathroom.
I basically want the bathstore one but without the shelf at the bottom, or the £200 Shock price tag Hmm

What about Argos - this one for example. £30.

these people look like they would be able to make one to order for you. It won’t be dirt cheap but probably less than the bathstore one! And bespoke to what you want.

shockedballoon · 12/09/2018 22:46

The Argos one's not bad actually- but I'd ideally like it to be taller. Hadn't thought of bespoke, mostly due to cost, though it may well be an option given that the closest I can find to what I like is £200 and still not perfect! Bloody lot of money for a bathroom cabinet, didn't really want to go over £100!

They do a tall one too if you scroll down to 'customers also viewed'

sleepismysuperpower1 · 13/09/2018 19:14

(it may not be right anyway...here's to hoping though!)

"knob not a handle."

That's the easiest part.

Cabinet makers buy knobs and handles and attach whatever they think will attract buyers with (usually) a single M4 screw from the inside of the door, or two on a long handle.

You can buy whatever knob or handle to want and screw it to whatever cabinet you want . For example my bathroom cabinet has knobs resembling the internal bathroom doorknobs, but smaller. Mine are oval not round so they don't slip in wet or soapy hands.

To get you started, here are 791

PigletJohn · 13/09/2018 23:24

BTW

please don't put a shelf or cabinet above the basin, because when a glass jar or bottle slips out of your wet, soapy grasp (and it will) it will crack the porcelain.

shockedballoon · 16/09/2018 16:59

sleepismysuperpower that is practically completely perfect! Except the price ShockShock Arse, damn & feck. Can't really stretch to that. Good idea about customising pigletjohn - though will be a bit stuck if one has a handle that attaches via 2 holes.

PigletJohn · 16/09/2018 18:52

holes are available at modest cost. I can post you two for £5 each.

Or you can make your own.

shockedballoon · 16/09/2018 22:47

No I mean I want a single knob and if I buy something with a handle it would likely have 2 pre drilled holes and I wouldn't be able cover the extra hole up.
