Two story extension

We are at the stage where we need to decide to move or build an extension. I love my house holds lovely memories and we get the sun all day in the back garden. I'd rather stay put and build on but a few things worry me so looking for advice or to hear from experience.

It's a semi detached and if we extend on the side there is no other way to get garden waste into our bin or our bin out the front unless we take it through the house. I do think the extension would be big enough if we left a walkway for bins.

How long would we need to live somewhere else for? I'm aware it would be chaos but do I actually need to move out.

Can the extension be built without knocking through until the end? That's what we did so didn't move out.

It’s worth speaking to an architect because you’ll be surprised. I’ve cutrently got PP in for a two storey extension which is gonna essentially give me three extra bedrooms and it’s taking up was less floor space than you’d think. They’ll cone out and have a look FOC
