Need to add a shelf to a kitchen cupboard

We've just moved into a house and there are several cupboards in the kitchen where we want to add a shelf. Ideally walnut coloured to match the rest. I have no idea where to source these though....?

We just bought melamine coated board in the nearest colour, cut it to size, and you can buy the pegs/ shelf rests from a large DIY store.

Like this www.diy.com/departments/walnut-veneered-4-sides-edged-furniture-board-walnut-l-800mm-w-200mm-t-18mm/3663602876618_BQ.prd

If you cut it such that the veneered side fronts the front edge of the cupboard then it'll look great. I seem to remember sticking clear tape over the board where I was to cut to prevent the melamine from chipping

Brilliant. Looks like several places will do a similar shade and cut it to size. Just need to get the measuring tape out now. Thanks!

I added shelves to my kitchen cupboards.
I removed one of the existing shelves and took it to either B&q or Homebase and they cut an exact match.

No matter how steady you are with a saw at home, you'll get a much better result from a professional timber cutting service

Thank you! And believe me I am ALL about getting the professionals to do it.

I went to a local independent DIY shop, they cut the shelves (to the mm), I bought the metal pegs and got four new shelves for a tenner 😮

Still ok six years later!

I use a fantastic company online to make me some made to measure shelves for a kitchen cupboard. They have loads of different colours and were very reasonable. They were these guys. I highly recommend them.
