Moving in with parents

Hi, I just wondered if anyone has done this and can offer any advice/ideas. We will be speaking to a solicitor but I’d appreciate any thoughts.

We are moving counties (to be nearer the sea!). We are considering clubbing together with my parents and getting a property with an annexe.

I have an older sister and want to make sure that she doesn’t lose out on any potential inheritance. How has anyone tackled this? Would my parents sell their house and split the proceeds 50/50? So 50% to my sister now and 50% into our house?

Also, thinking ahead, if my parents had to go into care would money need to come from our house towards this? Would that then mean we possibly lose out?

I appreciate that none of this is “our money” and inheritance is a sensitive subject. We are quite an open family to happy to discuss it all and I would love to know how others have approached/dealt with this.

Thanks
