Lounge/ Reception paint choice

I am struggling with paint choices and F&B is way too expensive.

The floor is going to be a light oak lvt. I suspect the ceiling will be white.

I was hoping to do the walls in a light grey or something but honestly have no idea.

I have no furniture yet except for a light oak chest of drawers.

I have tried pininterest but am struggling a little.

What would colours would you recommend to make the most of limited light.

Thanks

I used a light grey in my hallway, I had Johnstons paint colour mixed to Little Greene Inox. You could always add colour later with soft furnishings etc.

Sounds very similar to ours. We used Dulux Chic Shadow but had it colour matched by Valspar. It's cosy in winter but quite cool in summer. We get lots of positive comments.

We like Dulux Eqyptian cotton for the living room

It’s not too grey, not too beige, not too brown. It’s just right. Creates a lovely cosy atmosphere but is naice and bright in daylight too

Try and get a colour match for Wevet by F&B. It’s a bright pale grey and it lights up darker areas.

Thanks for the comments.

Out of curiosity Mickey - why did you use Valspar to paint match?

I liked chic shadow as it has some blue in it and I am wondering if I should use that for the bedroom as it has a sort of white washed out vinyl with white built in wardrobes? I could then add a simple wooden chair and desk - would that work?

For the reception, I found this using the searches above 'Shallows'
www.google.co.uk/search?q=shallows+little+greene&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjW1br1u6PdAhVrKMAKHeHCB_EQ_AUICigB&biw=1366&bih=662

Which sort of seems obscure but will try a sample and am torn between that and the Egyptian Cotton.

Dulux white mist is a lovely light grey.

We've got our lounge done in a pale grey with lilacy undertones (it looked lilac going on the wall to be honest). Ours is bog standard Wilko "Stardust". It's held up well considering the battering our house gets - we've touched up the entrance way bits recently after a year or so but that's the kids leaning and hanging around corners that's made it really really grubby.

It was cheapest for us, that's the only reason. We were buying other paints as well
