It's me again, pecking brains until this kitchen is sorted!! Grin

After much debate about whether integrated is best or not I am pro and dh is against but that's all now been dealt with I am after :

An integrated washing machine

Integrated dryer

Five burner gas hob (this has got to be silver not black)

Eye level ovens

Integrated dishwasher

Aaand a freestanding American style fridge freezer. Now here's the catch; does anyone have a BIG fridge which is less bulkier than an American?? And might even be the same depth as a standard kitchen cabinet? (600mm) We have looked at sub zeros and they are out of our league price wise.

So. If any of you lovely lot have any fab reccomendations to make of the above stuff pleeeeease help me out. Ta very much!

Hi mum2015

I used silestone in Blanco matrix - a nice speckle that disguises a few crumbs round the toaster brilliantly as well as repelling stains. I bought from The Marble Workshop Ltd at a very reasonable price.

mum2015 · 11/09/2018 04:10

I woke up now to check if you replied Blush

That kitchen looks beautiful Nutella. I envy all the larders you are getting.

Saffron,
Thanks for quartz recommendation. Very helpful.

mum2015 · 11/09/2018 04:29

I need to think about radiators too. I am looking for something with least groves. I am tired of vaccuming current ones.

Please recommend a good corded vaccuming cleaner that I can use on sofa, shelves, windowsill, radiators etc. My corded Dyson is a monster to lift and carry around, and cordless one doesn't have enough power.

Which flooring everyone is getting?

nutellaontoastgirl · 11/09/2018 09:23

Oh I'm not sure about that worried. I wouldn't assume it would but someone more knowledgable might be able to advise on that!

What a wet and grey day here.. I'll be popping to the house later to check on progress Smile I feel like I should start some kind of renovation video Diary and start blogging Grin

Can we talk taps?

Filter taps and hot water taps? @Worieddd @onewayoflife do you guys have any of these? Are they worth having ? Expensive ?

I'm looking online and have found some fairly cheap ones but wondering if there is a particular brand out there that are very good for this kind of thing!

OP posts:
onewayoflife · 11/09/2018 14:46

We don't have either.

Some of the kitchen places added them to designs and quoted for them without us even asking and they were around 700-1000. It did seem like a lot of money for something we wouldn't use that often. But if you drink 10 cups of tea a day maybe it would be worth it!

nutellaontoastgirl · 11/09/2018 14:55

That is way too much for a tap. And I make on average 3 cups of tea a day so hardly worth it! Scrubbing that idea out as fast as it came, otherwise kitchens are a slippery slope down into losing track of the budget very very quickly !

nutella Integrated larder fridge and freezer, island hob, interested to see what hob you've chosen - are you induction or gas?.
I have had a quick look and reckon I can save about £500 by choosing gorenje over the neff freezer and bosch fridge that were loitering in various baskets!

bobkate · 12/09/2018 22:10

Your second linky was to the dishwasher as well. We're hoping our old one will have survived 8 months in storage!

nutellaontoastgirl · 12/09/2018 23:19

MOh marks electricals have an offer on gorenje integrated fridge and freezers!

@bobkate

Sorry, will link everything tomorrow as am off to bed now x

@bobkate how did you get on with your appliance buys?

OP posts:
bobkate · 04/10/2018 23:59

nutella that is funny timing... I am still working on it Confused.
I think I have decided on the gorenje integrated fridge and freezer, gorenje warming drawers, caple island hood, aeg ovens and I was originally going for a neff hob, but think I might go for the aeg hob instead.
Going to email the new list to appliance house tomorrow to see what multi deal they can offer.
Have yours all been delivered?

bobkate · 05/10/2018 00:00

Your notification email popped up just as I was browsing sinks! Please let it all be over soon!

OP posts:
nutellaontoastgirl · 05/10/2018 01:12

Oh and I've also swapped my gorenje dishwasher for a Bosch one as I joined which? For a £1 trial (thanks @wowfudge ) and the reviews said the gorenje dishwasher was tricky to load which is a dealbreaker for me!

I’ve just found this thread again, I’d forgotten I’d posted on it before.

I’d love to hear what appliances people chose in the end and are you happy with them? and pictures of your kitchens would be fab too!

We still haven’t finished our house- we’re self building and a global pandemic was definitely not in our schedule, but we’re in the final bit now- loads of decisions: bathroom tiles, wood flooring, kitchen appliances etc...

speaking of which:
I’m trying to work out which ovens to get, going for 2 singles next to each other, I think Bosch, but I can’t work out if pyroletic is worth it, or is steam actually more useful? Can you have both?

I think we’re there with the hob, again Bosch, a wide induction one with a zone on one side and three rings. Does anyone have one of these? I’m trying to work out the difference between a flexinduction zone and a combI zone... can you put multiple pans on the combi zone? Does anyone know...

TIA

MrsJamin · 30/09/2020 12:25

Our rule of thumb is to spend good money on branded appliances that involve water (eg Bosch), but not as much on cooling / heating appliances. We take extended warranties out on dishwasher and washing machine for this reason, and we've used the policies several times so is really worth it. There's just a lot more to go wrong with water based appliances!

Bewarethequietboy · 30/09/2020 23:11

Thanks @MrsJamin that’s really sensible advice- I’ve never heard that before!

MrsJamin · 01/10/2020 05:21

@Bewarethequietboy DH had a summer working at Comet's customer service dept and learned a lot about which appliances went wrong and why! It was always the water-based stuff which went catastrophically wrong. TVs, fridges, cookers etc tend to go on for a long time with no such problems.
