Worktops - there such a thing as a good wood laminate?

I'm finalising my new kitchen. Waited years for it and I've finally signed off the layout. What I really really want is wooden worktops. But...I'm lazy at maintenance and know they're likely to end up black/mouldy around the sink.

The kitchen I want doesn't go as well with quartz and the price is phenomenal- almost £4K! 😳

Has anyone got a really great treated wood or laminate that hasn't ruined? If you can, would you share pics?

Please tell me there's a wood option out there?

Yes!! We did our kitchen last year. It’s quite a big area and we just couldn’t stretch to quartz. I love the look of oak but I’ve had real wood kitchen surfaces before and we found the maintenance a real ball ache. Our kitchen fitter recommended looking at the canyon range in Benchmarx: when I got there I thought the salesman had mistakenly brought out real oak rather than laminate. It honestly looks great and is really robust. My friend has just had real wood work surfaces in her kitchen and while they look lovely they were £££ and there’s already a mark and a scratch on them. I’ll dig out a photo of mine.

@glasshalfsomething I'm so glad you started this thread. I'm in the exact same predicament!

Definitely going to investigate Benchmarx as @BellMcEnd worktop looks amazing.

In our last house we had a wood effect laminate from wickes that looked very good. That was 8 years ago too, I’m sure there are lots even more convincing ones around now.
