Bold coloured splashbacks?

We're having a new kitchen installed in the winter. The units are a stone colour (very light grey really) and the new top will be black granite. We're at the stage of talking about splashbacks and I'm keen on the glass ones, which can be made in any colour under the sun.

I'm not keen on a monochrome look and we're thinking of a brightly coloured splashback to add a bit of colour! But which colour is the question - practically anything will go with grey and black. Orange, lime, purple....

Ideas? (Would ask on DIY on a Budget but they'll just tell me to Fablon it).

Genuinely I think coloured splashbacks look awful, cheap and tacky
Sorry

I agree. Keep it neutral and add colour with accessories. Or use very pale versions of colours like blue and pinks. If you are using granite you will have an upstand along the worktop about 2 ins high. The granite could be taller behind the hob?

What about going for bright blinds? We have a dark grey kitchen & went for a neutral splash back but have red blinds which brighten kitchen.

Having said that our tiler, after he had completed the job, asked why we had not gone for red tiles!!

What colour will your walls be? I have a grey kitchen with pink walls. My glass splashbacks are the same colour.

We have white walls with a teal glass splashback. I think it looks fantastic - visitors always compliment it.

Ours is plain glass. Dh put it up, using some sort of strong adhesive stuff and said there wasn't a way in the world that would EVER come off. I'd had no idea it was so permanent.

I wished I'd gone for a greeny blue colour.

It's only now reading this thread that I'm seeing you all think colour ones are cheap and tacky. I had no idea!

Coloured splash backs are truly hideous, don't do it!

We have white/pale pink walls, pastel green units wooden tops and a dark teal tiled splash back. Everyone loves it. The hob and accessories are black.

I'm definitely not having tiles. Either glass or something else without joins. (Not fablon!!)

We have a turquoise one. I will post a picture later when I have tidied. Everything else in the house is grey or white so it brightens the place up.

We don't have one run of splaahbacks. But instead have purple rectangle above the hob and a green one above the sink. It's a lived in family home though and the room is all about pops of colour. It is not tidy but I can post a pic of you want
