Small kitchen ideas

Hi,

I don't know why I'm posting this yet as it'll be a long way off til I have the funds but I would like to upgrade my kitchen at some point.

I don't have a separate dining room in my tiny house, just a front room and then the kitchen next door.

When we moved into the property, the units went around the kitchen in a 'U' shape. Dp ripped out the under counter fridge/freezer, the work top that went over it and the cupboards which were above it to make space fit a small dining table in (table is about 120cm long). We got a tall free-standing fridge/freezer which we put next to the very pokey utility room.

The kitchen has always been on my mind as something I would love to modernise. Not necessarily spend a fortune on but definitely would love to update the cabinet doors/worktop as well as replace the outdated tiles. The appliances are all modern.

I know I will probably need a beloved MN diagram for this but my mind has been shifting to rejigging the whole thing around. So I'm looking for small kitchen ideas that incorporate a dining table. Sorry I'm too vague, I haven't got a budget in mind either as dp is very practical and a joiner by trade so I know we can cut a lot of costs. I'm just looking for ideas if anyone can help.

TIA Smile

A colour scheme would be nice to think about too. So far our walls in the kitchen are bog standard magnolia Sad

I can't be of much use, advice wise but I remember seeing these articles

www.realhomes.com/completed-projects/small-kitchen-ideas

If you search small kitchens on Houzz there's a load of visual ideas too.

Colour wise, I'd probably start by buying a tin of white kitchen paint from wilko. It'll brighten your existing kitchen up and make it more livable until you can redo it x

Get some inspiration from Pinterest. Lots of space saving designs for small kitchens. My kitchen is small and I have freestanding units and open shelving which makes it look bigger. Could you incorporate a table that flips down from the wall that you could fold away when not needed?

A diagram (with dimensions) is definitely needed..Smile

I first saw this at a friend's house in the 80s and thought it was the coolest thing ever! A pull-out table from a drawer! I see some kitchen retailers are now offering it.
It's obviously not going to seat 12 for Christmas dinner ..... but I remember they comfortably got 2 adults & 2 kids around theirs.
You get similar pulling out from a worktop or island.

Thanks for the replies. Sorry I've not posted a diagram, my phone ran out battery this morning and I left it uncharged all day so only just charged it back up nowConfused

There will definitely be a diagram soon. Quite like the pull-out table island. I'm not sure my kitchen is big about for an island without some drastic changes. It does need a fresh lick of paint for now though. I'm tired between upgrading my tiles either to nice modern ones or some funky splash back type stuff. Right now they are 'varying shades of egg' as my friend politely described them. Thy look very 90s I would say.
