Having some trouble with choosing a design, would be great to get other peoples perspective.

DH and I are going around in circles here!

Terrace semi or detached?

senua · 22/08/2018 21:11

What are the various rooms? I think I'd probably go for a 4/2 split, not 3/3.

Can you mock up version 5: like 1, but with the small gable over the door.

4

3! It's the most balanced.

SittingAround1 · 22/08/2018 21:32

4 more attic space

kwiksand · 23/08/2018 07:45

Thanks all.

It is detached, the rooms are very flexible.

I’ll ask dh to try some changes.

The attic is definitely something we want to do.

2 or 3. Really dislike 4 and think it would look super weird in real life.

senua · 23/08/2018 11:13

Is the gable really essential? It makes the roof more complicated and therefore presumably more expensive and also more likely to fail (at the valleys).
Do a simple pitched roof but have a bit of decoration with the fascia boards and a porch instead?

kwiksand · 23/08/2018 11:20

Sadly we are required to :(

  1. I hate guttering, always filling with debris and joints failing. Also like drainpipes to have as little visual impact on design as possible.
senua · 23/08/2018 11:30

Ah, OK. But, on the plus-side, gables are aesthetically pleasing.Smile

  1. It gives you the most readymade space if you ever consider a loft conversion.
