Staircase spindles

We have a bog standard stair case which would be improved a lot I think by some nice contemporary spindles. Have googled but can't find anything. Any ideas?

Ask a local joiner to find some, or you might be able to replace with glass panels

Genuine question - what's a contemporary spindle? I think I know what a classic one looks like but I can't imagine a contemporary look!

We used axyss system (i think thats how it's spelt), oak with chrome. You could also try googling richard burbage fusion.

Newel posts are the big boys at the top/bottom/bends

Spindles (or balusters) = the bars (or not) that support the handrail.

Newel posts are the big posts top and bottom (and at turns if you have them). They can be very tricky to replace securely. Is it these you want to replace or the thinner posts that run below the length of the handrail? If the latter then spindle is the correct term
Contemporary stairs tend to have metal newels and handrails with glass panels instead of spindles. Alternatively waxed hardwood spindles can look lovely and modern (with the newels and handrail painted). In terms of spindle style, I'm not sure what would be considered modern as there aren't a huge amount to choose from IME. There are a limited number of shapes you can turn in a piece of wood!
