Feeling like we need to move up to date with technology with our house renovation. What home tech is worth the money and where should I be looking to get started? Heard of Nest, Hive, Smart lighting, multi room Music solutions-I don’t have a clue!

We've got nest central heating it's brilliant. It's also (somehow) connected to the Amazon Alexa, some of the lights (Philips hue bulbs) and the smoke alarms. It can be controlled both by phone and voice.

What level of renovation are you doing? If rewiring then definitely put in some 5 amp sockets - they enable you to turn lamps on and off via a wall switch. Not high tech but very cool.

My DB had a laser beam that went across bathroom doorway at ankle height

Then when you go in at nighttime it had certain bathroom lights automatically come on and then they go off when you walk back out

Have a look at www.control4.com and find a local dealer to speak to. Or send me a message and I can probably advise
