Landlord only contactable through solicitor

I'm a bit confused by this. We have offered on a rental but have been told the landlord is only contactable via his solicitor. The house is fully managed by the Estate agents. Is this something we should be concerned about? Why would this be?

I wouldn't worry. The agents will look after you. Are they a reputable one? Belong to all relevant organisations?

England - you are entitled to an address for the landlord.

It's actually Wales @specialsubject so don't know if the same rules apply ??

Yes, reputable agents.

I'm just a bit perplexed, under what circumstances would there be a need to work in this way, particularly as the estate agent is managing the property.

Sounds like it could be a PITA. Even if it’s fully managed, the EA will still need to get approval from the LL for any repairs etc.

That was normal when I was renting. It just means the landlord doesn’t want to be bothered with any issues. So you deal with the estate agent who are managing the property and only contact the solicitor if you have a problem with the agent.

Landlord doesn't want texts at random times at night to say something isn't working

Wales may be different, rentsmart should have info. he is of course registered with them? ( for all the use it is but it is the law)
