Listed house and making offer

Please can someone advise me. I've seen a grade 2 listed house I'm interested in buying. Apart from cosmetic things it looks fine to me and has recently been rented out. My question is who do I take with me for a second viewing? Is it a builder or surveyor as I'm worried that I'll make an offer but the full structural survey could show a million things wrong. I know the regular pit falls of older properties having always lived in them and have read up on the specifics of listed buildings but have never bought one before. Would be grateful for advise

We found that a structural engineer was the best option. Builders build modern houses. Surveyors always have get-outs, and only want to cover their own backs.

That's great advise. Many thanks I'll try to find one
