Hello,

I am hoping someone can help me out with some suggestions.

I have a very large window that has been installed on a barn conversion.

I now need to decide on a windowsill. I originally wanted Oak, to match the floors and exposed A frames, but have been told that due to the size (4285 x 520) oak is not a good option, as it moves / settles and would be likely to split, unless I have multiple separate pieces.

So I'm at a bit of a loss as to what I can use. I don't want tiles, but perhaps limestone or engineered wood would be an option. Any ideas?

Engineered wood

@HumptyNumptyNooNoo Do you have engineered wood? Are there any downsides to it?

No I have real wood. It moves and creaks and adds to the character of my place. But was advised similarly when I wanted to put in a long window seat in a south facing room - ended up using MDF and painting it - as rest of room painted panelling. It works but doesn't look as nice as oak would have IMO
