I think it is an interesting house but the photo of the lilac throw irritates me a bit, think the photographer was useless in not straightening it after walking past before taking photo

I have seen it from outside/HW side as our friends live there too. They used to see him out and about walking his dogs. He was very friendly with smile and hello SmileSmileSmileSmile

Thought you guys might like a look SmileSmileSmile

There Heal's Mistral sofas - same as the Masterchef ones.

SubtitlesOn · 06/08/2018 17:49

I listen to his radio 2 show on Saturdays and before he "broke up" for summer

He and Maria were talking and he said he was going to Ireland for the summer and to USA iirc so I guess he is in Ireland for most of the summer

Maria lives in Hastings so very close by, depending on traffic GrinGrin

Oh, was a disappointment, I was expecting something really nice for that price. And the furniture looks cheap. And office doors throughout. At first glance I thought the main photo was a block of flats.
Ugly inside.

RaspberryRipple1963 · 06/08/2018 17:53

I like it. But why does it say 'one bathroom' at the top, next to the price, yet in the photos there appears to be 4 of them?

Muddlingalongalone · 06/08/2018 17:56

Disappointed that it's sold. It was my coastal lottery win house because my parents live 5 mins away.
I love it and figured if I could afford £2m I could afford to fix the bits I wasn't 100% happy with.

Muddlingalongalone · 06/08/2018 18:01

At least I won't have to drive along Herbrandt walk I suppose....

keyboardkate · 06/08/2018 18:01

I wouldn't refuse the Sussex Beach house if I was given if for free, but 2.3mill for that!

Makes me laugh though that train station locations are included, as if anyone buying that property would deign to mix with the great unwashed on a train FGS!

Now to be fair his house (in the above pic)in Ireland is just gorgeous. Fabulous location and you just could not buy the privacy of that. But I doubt there is any public transport nearby, shame that!

SubtitlesOn · 06/08/2018 18:01

Muddlingalongalone - did you know Roger Moore used to live on Herbrand Walk many years ago?

I don't know which house though, do you?

OP posts:
Muddlingalongalone · 06/08/2018 18:10

No idea - my parents only moved there 2 years ago - downsized to a seaview flat and moved from Hastings.

Mishappening · 06/08/2018 18:10

From the outside it is an architectural monstrosity - I cannot imagine how it got planning permission right on the coast there!

But the views from inside are lovely.

Laiste · 06/08/2018 18:11

Oh yeah! The pool looks like washing up water in one of the photos! Would never have thought of photo shopping for a blue pool. What a difference it makes. Very sneaky isn't it really.

Must make of note of that for when i sell my weekend home with a pool Wink

mydogisthebest · 06/08/2018 18:11

It's too open plan for me and I am not keen on houses with so much glass. I also dislike those roll top baths.

I expected him to have a nicer house than that. Also I imagine him more of a cottage type person not a modern glass box. Those doors are awful too.

He has dogs doesn't he? Not sure how they cope with all he laminate floors. We had to get rid of our laminate because I dogs just kept sliding on them

cheesemongery · 06/08/2018 18:12

I'm not liking the doors - they look similar to my council house doors! I hate my council house doors. Maybe I'll put a fancier knob on and pretend I'm rich. Okay so he has a sea view and we have the allotments, he has a spotty duvet and we have gone bold with raspberry, he has a pool and we have an erm... sink and bath... Oh and that doormat out by the pool - shocking! Grin If you need any house sitters whilst you are trying to sell @grahnort, somebody to straighten your throw and plump your cushions look no further.

ElspethFlashman · 06/08/2018 18:46

Yeah OP he spends 2 and a half months in Ireland during the summer. I heard him once say that he works practically 7 days a week the rest of the year so he can save up all his days off for that time.

He was probably spending not a whole lot of time in that sold house any more. He seems so happy in Cork.

ElspethFlashman · 06/08/2018 18:50

The place in Cork isn't really that private when you realise all the boats that go past, look at this pic obviously taken from one!

Elspeth,

Sorry now, but if you are on the water you are bound to have boats going past, but it still looks fantastic to me.

I did a little Google and the place is in Ahakista in West Cork (where GN is from). I'd buy it if I won the lottery. West Cork is fabulous. But expensive to buy there.

Here is an article I found....

ElspethFlashman · 06/08/2018 19:18

Yeah I doubt he cares anyway. Unless he wants to sunbathe nude on the front lawn!

keyboardkate · 06/08/2018 19:21

Elspeth,

OOH Matron!

Bet there would be a few binoculars on those boats if that were the case.... ha ha.

Studyinghell · 06/08/2018 19:25

What a view 😍

ElspethFlashman · 06/08/2018 19:33

I've just remembered I follow him on Instagram and you can actually see the view from his house in loads of his photos. See that tree in the pic above? It's all wobbly. You can see that wobbly tree in the background and the most glorious vista beyond. It looks heavenly.

keyboardkate · 06/08/2018 19:43

Elspeth,

Thanks, it is a most beautiful unspoilt and very friendly part of the world. I was around that area a couple of years ago, and honestly, breathtaking is not the word, there must be another description!

Great pubs/food at night time, fab scenery and the people were so friendly. The accent was difficult to understand at first, but it didn't matter, we got used to it! They could understand us no problem hilarious times.

ianbealesonwheels · 06/08/2018 20:20

None of his personality in the house at all. There is no evidence of a designer touch. Gorgeous vies but nothing else 😊

TheSheepofWallSt · 06/08/2018 20:23

I used to work with GN... and absolutely cannot see any of him / his personality in that house! So strange!

megletthesecond · 06/08/2018 20:27

Perfect. It's even all white Envy.
I like him more now.

youarenotkiddingme · 06/08/2018 20:28

I could easily live there. Bagsy the bedroom that opens up to the sea 😍
