Bedfordshire / Hertfordshire villages?

Hi, I'm looking to move to Beds / Herts and have a budget of £250k. Don't need to commute (looking to teach locally) and happy with a small 2 bed. Any advice on where might be an option??

I'd forget Herts, your money will go a bit further in Beds

I'd second that.

You won’t get anything in Herts for £250k.

Go to Beds. Central Beds is nice, lots of families in those villages and friendly.

Thanks all, any particular villages in Beds you’d recommend??

Ampthill and Flitwick are nice, as are the small towns of Biggleswade and Sandy, it would cover a two bed and maybe a wreck of a 3 bed.

Just avoid Bedford itself!! I grew up there and went back briefly as an adult. We’ve moved away now and we’re much happier!

There are nice villages north of Bedford like Sharnbrook and Harrold.

Hi, just go into Rightmove and put in a search for Bedfordshire 2-3 Beds from 200-260k. It’ll give the location on the map and what schools are nearby.

Agree ignore Herts. Central Beds is a nice area but prices are getting high. I used to live there, loads of my friends commuted to London from places like Biggleswade and Arlsey, so it's now getting a price bump because of London salaries.

I don't know what age you teach, but there aren't many secondary/upper schools in central beds - it's a relatively rural area. You might be better finding a job first, or you'll have quite a commute on minor roads.
