Hi guys(ahem especially @pigletjohn)

Anyone got recommendations about what fans to use in a loft ensuite. It will be in a dorma so ceiling type isn’t really an option. I want something that will be quiet, work for a while after the light is turned off.

Also need an exhaust for under stairs toilet again similar specs. But there is no window so not sure what to go for.

Any recommendations?

Many thanks in advance

this is a good make
you might find it cheaper, or with a different brand name, but cheap brands often don't have ball-bearing motors, so they wear out and get noisy.

When choosing, look at air throughput in cu.m/hr (about 80 is typical of a small, 100mm bathroom fan) and noise in dbA

If you have a shower, or a long duct, you will need a more powerful fan. Ducted inline fans are often two or three times the power, but, surprisingly, no noisier. They are bigger so are usually hidden above the ceiling or boxed in with the duct. You need easy access for maintenance.

Rigid duct stays much cleaner then flexible corrugated hose, which taps fluff and sometimes condensation. Rigid duct should be slightly sloped so any water runs outside. Otherwise you may need to include a drain.
