If I was to spend that much per month I'd expect to be buying the place.

At the end of the day it is only an apartment and whilst finished nicely you'd still have neighbours sharing the building/garden.

I can't see the attraction personally.

It's not that nice and also ridiculously expensive for an apartment in Reading!

USA2UK · 01/07/2018 20:50

It is actually a rural village near Reading. It is an apartment to not very private but it was finished/furnished nicely and has lot of square footage. It has a sale listing as well for about 1.2 million pounds.

Id get something for about 1k amd save 2k a month towards a deposit if you have that kind of money tbh.

If it's up for sale also, you might end up being turfed out after 6 months.

I have been looking for a property to buy in that price range in that area so know that property has been on the market for a year with two agents. They will be reluctant landlords.
The property is in a conversion from a school and there are multiple other properties on the site. They are always up for sale, nobody seems to stay long. It is still next to a working monastery as was owned by the monastery so there maybe weird covernants.
It is well out of the village in an isolated location and was completely inaccessible every time it snowed over the winter.
Both rent and sale price are super top end for the area.

Meant to add I think it is all fur coat and no knickers.

I cannot believe someone would pay that much a month towards someone else's mortgage.

catandpanda · 03/07/2018 08:32

If its up for sale you could have people viewing it and be kicked out at 2 months notice or so. Would never rent anywhere up for sale.

No land, one parking space, a lot of money to share your home with other people, plus the interior design is a hash of modern and old that I don't think works. It looks like what it is, a converted flat.

I agree with that, and the photos seem a bit coy about the kitchen set-up (sorry, the cinema area/kitchen/dining roomHmm set-up).

I agree with the above - it doesn't know whether it's traditional or contemporary and looks odd.
