Protecting pine floorboards, what to use? stain/varnish/wax/oil? Need to start today!

We have just finished whole weekend of sanding back pine floorboards upstairs in new (to us) house. They've come up quite well so think we can varnish/oil/wax/ whatever rather than painting but I am so confused with all the options.

Any recommendations?

Main limitation is time (and money), we are finishing the corners this morning, hoovering the dust etc and hope to start coating them tonight or tomorrow night after work before the movers bringing all our stuff over on Wednesday...

Help!

Osmo Polyx oil is what you want, a decorators merchant will have it.

OrcinusOrca · 11/06/2018 16:36

Osmo for sure Smile

Get the wide osmo brush too, it has very stiff bristles so you can get a thin enough coat.

Yep. Osmo

Does osmo change the colour / make yellow?

Normal formulation is colourless but darkens the tones of the wood as water would, old red pine floorboards may come up a lovely rich colour. There is a "raw" version supposed to be more like the bare wood finish, I've used a lot of osmo products but not that one.
