Hello everyone
I am hoping someone would be able to help...we are looking to move to somewhere outside London but with easy commute to kings cross or Stratford as that's where my husband works. I work from home and we have 2 kids( age 5 and 3). Our max budget is 325k . We currently live in Hackney east london but we need somewhere bigger and with good schools
We have looked at Rochester, Chatham, Leighton buzzard but the train fare imo is too much ( 130ish a week) would anyone be able to suggest any other area that fits into our criteria please. Thank you

Have you looked at Hitchin? Or the stations beyond ? How long is he happy to be on the train ?

Bigger than what?
Chelmsford in Essex has lots of 3 bed semis in your price bracket, 45 minute train to Stratford with a season ticket £93pw if bought weekly, £83pw if bought monthly and £72 of bought annually.

Obviously no good if you are wanting to upgrade from a 3 bed semi to a 4 bed - but if you are currently I'm a 2 bed flat this would be a big improvement.

Thanks for your response. We currently live in a one bed , so we are looking at 3 bed to grow into. Will look into your suggestion. Again, thanks for your time

I second the area in / around Hitchin. We live in Letchworth and love it. Having a few issues with the trains recently (it's been on the news) but most of the time it's great.

Just to add we moved out here from North London 2 years ago. Yes the train prices seem steep, but it's balanced out by a lower mortgage.

You could move to the new garden city at Ebbsfleet. It's only about 10 mins on the train to Stratford and I think there will be houses in your budget

Folkestone is an amazing place to live. Yes the high speed is pricey, but the fact that you get way more house for your money and the most fabulous lifestyle (beautiful beaches, idyllic countryside and weekend hops to Europe) more than makes up for it.

Hemel Hempstead?
