Few of the paints I've tested (such as Goose Down) are not true greys. It's a lightish blue :/

Pics would help if you can recommend anything you painted on internal walls, please.

It depends on your room though. One that looks grey somewhere else won't necessarily in your room because of how the light is. Just get a variety of samples to try. Try them out on some lining paper so that you can move it around the room

We have Purbeck Stone by Farrow and Ball in the living room and our bedroom.

Andijustknew · 02/06/2018 10:10

Pebble Grey - dulux. It's light grey, doesn't look blue in our halfway (no natural light).

twilightcafe · 02/06/2018 10:10

Purbeck Stone. Looks neutral (to my eyes) in most lights.

Purbeck stone too! It looks like a warm grey in our house.

HeyMacWey · 02/06/2018 10:15

Are you looking for a light or dark grey? We have some walls in our living room dulux urban obsession which is definitely grey but quite dark, got our daughters room a very light grey which does have a slightly blue tinge, we tested loads and they all either had blue or beige undertones- think the one we used was a Homebase own make one which wasn't great coverage wise but our favourite light grey that we tested.

Polished pebble definitely looks blue in our hallway, it is really down to your light so you have to test and test as a pp said. We have Dulux White Mist in our kitchen which looks like a light grey currently as we don’t have much natural light, but is very white on another wall where there is light.

NameChange30 · 02/06/2018 10:57

Earthborn St John, it has no blue tones as we have it in a room with bright yellow accents so we chose it carefully.

EscapistTendencies · 02/06/2018 11:00

I mixed black paint dye with white to get the grey I wanted then just mixed loads extra for touch ups. Bit of a hassle but definitely no blue hues.

EmmaC78 · 02/06/2018 11:01

Chic shadow by dulux or cloud burst by Crown.

dotdotdot12 · 02/06/2018 11:07

Chic shadow by dulux is definitely grey

I used to do colour consultancy. Just a tip from me . When buying sample pot instead of painting it on the wall paint it on a piece of left over wallpaper or cardboard, cover it 2-3 times to make sure you getting the right colour. I'd do at least an A4 size. Cut the edges of the create an oversized paint chip. Move it around in the room see how the colour looks like in dark corners or by the window or wherever you get lots of light.

If you want to see the true colour of the paint place a couple a4 normal printing paper beside the colour chip you made. That will show the true colour of the paint.

Just try it. Chic shadow by dulux is very lilacy grey. If you looking for F&B colours the section from strong white to worsted is warm greys. If you are after a cool grey look at blackened dimpse pavilion grey Manor House grey plummet down pipe.
For me true true grey is Manor House grey from F&B

Our kitchen's a pure grey - but it's by bog standard Wilko so probably not MN fodder (Pearl Grey is the shade). We have an ever so slightly lilac undertoned one in the lounge which is Stardust too. Both looked really really lilac when we were painting them on so don't panic until things dry!

fuckadoodledandy · 02/06/2018 11:31

Second cloudburst by crown...

QuickWash · 02/06/2018 11:35

We have goose down in our bedroom and landing and it's very grey not lilac or blue. We have grey hints on another landing and that is light er but also grey.

PlayingForKittens · 02/06/2018 11:36

I have valspar rocky mountain mist. I think it is grey on my walls but I've seen others complain it looks more purple (like mountain mist) on their walls.
Lazy taken from the armchair I'm sitting in photos.

We have valspar bottle fly wings. It's a definite grey in our living room.

redfragglebiker · 02/06/2018 12:06

Chic shadow by Dulux is definitely grey.

FellOutOfBed2wice · 02/06/2018 12:11

Light rain in the B and Q own brand colour range is definitely grey in our hallway (natural light) but needs two coats. The durable formulation definitely is though and it is cheap as chips.

FellOutOfBed2wice · 02/06/2018 12:11

Photo would help!

Another vote for Cloud Burst by Crown. It’s the best grey ( that’s actually grey) I’ve found. Get the scrubbable Matt version if you can...

ShouldHaveListenedInBiology · 02/06/2018 12:21

I’ve had French grey and pale French grey from Laura Ashley, both a true grey.

RyvitaBrevis · 02/06/2018 12:28

Another vote for Purbeck Stone from Farrow and Ball. It's a very neutral grey, but really lovely.
