I know people who were 'friends' with GG I will see them over the next few months and see what I can dig up. He seems to have gone very quiet, which may be a good thing - fingers crossed, I was once told he knew everybody he needed to know in estate agents, council etc. I can believe it with estate agents doing favours, but I don't think it is true of the council...

Friend tells me stories are being shared about GG on her next door neighbour group too and I think info from here being shared. She remembered his name from something I had told her, not as customer, but someone who has had my own issues with this unpleasant bully and his spoilt wife.

Hopefully Gus Grewal and his complicit wife Louise are inching closer to facing the music. They deserve everything they get. A lot of angry people out there.

I do hope so too. And I hope I hear about it. Have to wonder who their friends are, they have no idea how to behave like decent people and sadly setting a dreadful example to their children too.

Just wondering in regards to Gus Grewal, was he the director for L&E originally or don't move extend?

The only time that we've met him was he was the reference given to us from Go Building. We were oblivious to who he was at the time and just seemed like a client who had work done. So, Go Building gave us Louise's number (the wife) and I spoke to Gus and we went to his house on Cole Park Road, which was impressive but no wonder if he's scammed money from so many people 😭

I am signing off on this thread.
I would be careful posting comments on individuals because none of us really understand the laws of libel.
I hope this thread has encouraged readers to be careful in the people they choose as their builders.
Caveat emptor as the Roman's would say.

I have two lawyers in the family, but I get your point, I think Mumsnet did get asked to take some posts down for that reason. I also know a lawyer who had work done by L&E who was planning to take GG & L&E to court but likely company dissolved before any pay out.

PRNelson · 28/11/2022 22:07

It's not libel if it's true. Gus Grewal was involved in both L&E and Don't Move in some capacity.

Juneday · 28/11/2022 22:21

The worry is that people give up or get scared or don't get compensation that they should. Regardless of whether the poor workmanship some have shared was done by the team, and not the company which likely makes it harder, especially where cash is encouraged. This model is legal, but clearly in the wrong hands not safe. The truth is the best out there don't advertise, they don't need to.

Hi.
They tried to intimidate me to take my post down earlier in this thread and I resisted. I told them to 'go to hell'' and they did.

It is the discussion of individuals that I am uncomfortable with on this thread.

Here is a thread about L&E on Nappy Valley.

There is also a thread on a next door neighbour group around Ditton and North Kingston. I am still confused as to what L&S are calling themselves now as GG doesn't appear to have any building businesses to his name atm just a consulting one (property based..?). I believe he has gone quiet for a reason, maybe made what he needs from this business, big house, likely other investments properties, Ibiza perhaps? Quietly hiding from further legal action, all companies dissolved in the building arena?

Sadly didn’t find this thread before we embarked upon a really problematic renovation project with Gus Grewal and Harjinder / Preet Singh. They’re now trading as Urban Living (website urbanliving.london) and we’ve experienced a lot of the issues that others have had with previous companies they’ve been involved with. Ultimately we’ve been left with - at best - a really poorly finished project that’s going to cost us thousands to fix, including some aspects that don’t meet building regs so we can’t get sign off. I just wanted to update this thread so anyone looking for reviews of Urban Living / Urban Living London would know what they’re dealing with and avoid entirely. The only reviews I could find before our project were the glowing ones on Houzz 🙄

Torri23 · 27/03/2024 15:52

I suggest you start a new thread with a title of Urban Living and reference this thread.

If you planning to go legal I suggest not delaying and not spending too much on fees.

Juneday · 27/03/2024 16:27

Thank's for the update and sorry you have had such a bad experience, albeit sadly not unusual with these people. It seems unbelievable that with so many known complaints and some legal disputes, Gus can still carry on in business, disappearing to Ibiza when it suits and seemingly living a very nice life. The only thing he can't keep doing is claiming ER relief at 10% with each company name change because the rules have changed on that... Although I suspect he has found some of the usual but not necessarily legit ways around various taxes. I am reassured that HMRC can take their time to look into such things and that people have made contact, so maybe on day.......

Juneday · 27/03/2024 17:22

was just looking at Urban Living out of interest, and noticed the house in the middle row, 8 down, labelled as Wandsworth is actually Gus Grewal's own house before he moved to a bigger detached house. This one was extended by L&E maybe 8 years ago or slightly more - the photo is with the second roof line, the first he was told by planning to remove as he had built it illegally too high by over 30 cm. Not entirely sure why he would pretend it is Wandsworth not Twickenham, but it is a just an example of how happy they seem to be to bend the truth.
