@Torri23 Well done for not caving into pressure. What an awful cowboy outfit.

Smallgoon · 14/07/2020 11:26

This makes for a interesting read....

nappyvalleynet.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=59198

Note how 4 posters appear in March 2019 all proclaiming to have had a 'wonderful' experience. They can't even fake reviews properly!

Argggghhhh · 14/07/2020 18:50

Shell game....
In the shell game, three or more identical containers, usually cups (see trading names), are placed face-down on a surface. A small ball (see your building project) is placed beneath one of these containers so that it cannot be seen, and they are then shuffled by the operator in plain view…. Sound familiar!?!
Just have a look online at companies house, you'll see the history of (and links between) companies and directors.

Smallgoon · 14/07/2020 21:48

Seems they're now trading under this name on Companies House

Crestward Ltd, co. no 10882214

Argggghhhh · 15/07/2020 00:09

@Smallgoon The dontmove-extend.com website says Crestward Ltd (t/a Don't Move Extend).

These are the 3 ACTIVE companies registered with Companies House, where Anthony Williams is the Director....

Crestward Limited

Company number 10882214
Incorporated - 25th July 2017
Director - Anthony Williams

Don't Move Extend Limted

Company number 10757497
Incorporated - 8th May 2017
Director(s) - Anthony Williams,
Person(s) with significant control/shareholdings - Gursharnjit Grewal owned 100% of the shareholdings (up to 24th May 2019.
From 24th May 2019 Anthony Peter Williams now owns 100% of the shareholdings
Previously named Trafalgar (West London) Limited - changed to Don't Move Extend 11th Sept 2018

Don’t Move Extend (London) Limited

Company number 12065426
Incorporate 24th June 2019
Director - Anthony Williams

This doesn't included the now dissolved Dont Move Extend Limited (note the missing apostrophe in the name) that was formerly known as L & E (Loft and Extensions) Limited.....

Argggghhhh · 15/07/2020 00:22

In case I get another email from Mumsnet saying my posts have been reported as defamation the source for all the above information is... beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/

Also note that the old Dont Move Extend Limited (formerly known as L & E (Loft and Extensions) Limited dissolved 13th June 2017... shortly after Don't Move Extend Limited (with the apostrophe) was incorporated.

Is there a connection between all these seperate legal entities?? I'll leave it for you to decide.

I will end this by repeating my original post. STEER CLEAR OF THIS BUSINESS

Smallgoon · 15/07/2020 00:52

@Arrrggghhhh Hope you managed to get the issues you encountered sorted by a competent set of people!

JRS71 · 12/10/2020 18:03

I concur - L&E / Don't Move Extend are a bunch of cowboys and you should stay well clear. We had our loft "built" in 2015 and its awful. All issues were discussed with Gus Grewal but no solution offered, no attempt to put right and honour the 10 year guarantee. All bathroom fittings were damaged, new window frames damaged (including the Velux), the finish is poor, the walls aren't straight, the gutters leak and the floor creaks terribly. It has cost me a fortune to put some things right but I can't face having builders in to redo all of their bodge jobs. A solicitor advised I have 6 years from completion to sue so if they have gone bust I'm gutted...

FEB15 · 02/11/2020 07:50

I concur with many comments and well done for contacting HMRC, if anything can be investigated along tax issue lines it should be. G Grewal does have part accountancy qualifications and it is likely the closing of one business and cashing in then reopening with a similar Blake and set up is legal. Time for HMRC and Rishi to look into the whole practise. Mr Grewal has made a lot of money over the years. This business model is common but some companies employ better teams and take more pride and responsibility in their work.

FEB15 · 02/11/2020 11:17

I agree with all you say Torri23.

The 'owner' of the several companies jointly trading as L&E, Don't move Extend etc. has made a VERY good living out of the businesses.

PJS100 · 29/01/2021 11:17

A very interesting thread .As another 'victim' of L&E, I'm just about to get 'started' on them. Wish that this set of 'experiences' had been available when I did my 'due diligence' on them ,prior to contract, in 2018. My recent review of them appears on their 'successor' entities website 'House', although the telephone number there isn't connected either. I'd be interested to learn of the experiences of those who have successfully sued them ,in court, to date

Hi PSJ100.
I think you will find lots of people who wanted to sue them and then a smaller group who haver tried to sue them but few if any will have succeeded. The trick the company employs is to sell on the trading name and website to a new Company and dissolve the old one. The 10 year guarantee they offer is not worth anything because the company that issued the guarantee gets dissolved.
regards Tori

There needs to be a change in the law to prevent this, until then they will carry on. Each time cashing in the on the upside to pay for their luxury lifestyles. Sad to think they are happy to cause so much upset for others and can still sleep at night in their large detached house ... driving expensive cars and partying in Ibiza. Do I envy them, no. But I do hope the message continues to get out there and compensation does get paid out eventually even if it takes a change of law.

The key thing is that no-one else gets caught out.

I'd therefore like to reiterate to all those searching for reviews that the quality of build we had from L&E Don't Move Extend was appalling. As it is now unlikely that I will be able to sue them as planned I have no hesitation in listing the issues we had, all of which L&E were made aware of at the time and failed to respond to:

Creaking loft floor with damaged floor panels that don't fit together properly, windows damaged, velux damaged, damaged bathroom fittings, toilet that doesn't flush properly, shower that leaks, a poor quality finish throughout with uneven plastering, cracks and screw head pops, damaged and poorly fitted firedoors, even the walls aren't straight!

They went through the first floor ceilings 8 times and were very slow to make good (we were living at the property and eventually had to move out) - at one point even proposing to replace each ceiling and charge extra for the work.

The workmen were unskilled, arrived without equipment and often had to borrow my tools or be shown by me how to do things. Project Management and supervision was virtually non-existent. They were messy workers and very reluctant to tidy up after themselves, even to remove their own food packages. They some sub contractors smoked onsite even though we instructed them not to.

They only worked 3 days per week and the build took 5 months to complete.

The company was dissolved in 2017 rendering my 10 year guarantee meaningless within a year or so of the works having completed.

I can only stress to anyone looking to get building work done - stay well clear of any building services offered by Gus Grewal and his sidekick Harj Sangherra.

PRNelson · 19/02/2021 16:06

Can i also add that if this company has been trading since 2012 as the owner says on the website why can you only find reviews from 2018 to the present?

Argggghhhh · 19/02/2021 16:48

Just FYI, the dontmove-extend.com website went offline around the 5th Feb, and as of today says "website coming soon". In all likely hood this company is dead, and none of the telephone numbers previously used are connected anymore.

Argggghhhh · 19/02/2021 16:56

Also, Go-building.london has a contact address of 128 Sheen Road, Richmond, TW9 1UR (perhaps a showroom).

GO BUILDINGS (UK) LTD, a company dissolved in January 2020, with a director Harj Sangherra (a known associate of Gus Grewal) had a registered address of 128 Sheed Road, Richmond, TW9 1UR on 13th June 2019 (before being changed multiple times).

GO BUILDING (SOUTH WEST LONDON) LIMITED... the company listed on the go-building.london website was previously called J&P UK BUILDING SERVICES LIMITED until 15th November 2019 when they renamed to GO BUILDING (SOUTH WEST LONDON) LIMITED

Up to their old games again with registering similar sounding limited companies under different names, changing names etc.

FEB15 · 19/02/2021 16:58

Their first website showed a pretty and large kitchen extension to semi detached victorian house, but they didn't do the main extension, they just did an alteration to the side return. I know the house and was surprised that the owner was happy to allow the photo and description that implied the work was far more significant than it was. It even featured in a glossy article that was actually an Ad in a local free magazine. You won't be surprised to learn that GG has been known to park in disabled parking bays.... that's the kind of man he is.

FEB15 · 19/02/2021 16:59

I expect I will asked to take that comment down soon!

Argggghhhh · 19/02/2021 17:00

They are watching this thread... and do not want Go Building associated with L&E and Dont Move Extend so new customers won't find this when doing a google search.

Expect them to complain to Mumsnet about any post with mention of Go Building.

They will claim it is completely unrelated, different ownership etc.

Gus Grewal does not need to be a registered director to be involved and reaping the rewards from these new business. He can simply be a paid consultant.

Torri23 · 19/02/2021 18:36

I had a look at the 5 star reviews on the Go Building Web site.
One was about work done in 2015 but the company was incorporated in 2019 (doh!).

They get the business by being cheaper. Next doors had a loft done with 'Don't move extend' and they were about £10k cheaper than an alternative tax paying builder.

It is a bit of a shame for next door but the cheap slate tiles the builder used are now 2 different colours. I posted pictures of the roof earlier in the thread. I was puzzled why he had not complained and then I heard that 'Don't move extend' had been dissolved.

Arrrggghhhh · 19/02/2021 18:57

So many fake 5 reviews for Go Building. But if you look at a few of the people commenting, they have actually left 5 reviews for Go Building and Dont Move Extend!!

I'm starting to take screenshots of all this as after we mention things here, they amend their website, reviews etc.

JRS71 · 19/02/2021 19:09

@Torri23 L&E might be terrible builders but believe me they are not cheap!!
