Those three responses sound like adverts!

Those three responses sound like adverts!
And all posted by first-time posters. Hilarious!

LetItGoHome · 17/06/2019 14:25

I'd run a mile from this company!! Previous posters sound dodgy as. Real life people don't post like that. 🤔🧐😂

HotChoc10 · 17/06/2019 14:30

And all posted over a year after the original!

If it smells like processed meat from a tin, then it probably is.

ChequersDog · 17/06/2019 16:17

Haha, that’s the worst fake reviewing I’ve seen for a while

Arrrggghhhh · 28/06/2019 11:06

Avoid them at all costs.... we used them in 2018. They are not what they seem.... i.e say they are a building firm but in fact act more as a sales/marketing firm (nice glossy adverts and thorough sales process detailing everything out) but once you sign a contract with them they sub-contract the work out to a separate building crew. These crews may or may not have worked with L&E/Don't Move Extend before and are nothing to do with L&E. Once you pay the initial 20% (to L&E) all other payments are made direct to the builder. Any problems.... L&E don't care, won't come to site, Directors ignore emails, don't return phone calls.

The list of issues we've had could go on but you get the idea!

Tiredandold1 · 09/09/2019 11:57

Ha I LOVE the Mumsnet radar for bulls*! It should be on high alert where L&E are concerned...

We’ve had a terrible experience and would strongly recommend staying away from them, their associated companies and Directors (Companies House has all the details).

Summercream · 29/10/2019 13:31

Is this company in Twickenham the same as the one in Kenton?

concernedhomeowner · 09/02/2020 10:37

Crooks, stay well away from these guys! Still battling to get a 4-month loft conversion completed exactly 1 year after the project started. The list of issues and delays could fill a book! From structural steels being installed in the wrong place to a very leaky roof, we experienced pretty much every issue you can name. As previous posters mentioned, L&E (now called Don'tMoveExtend) takes a 20% cut (paid upfront) and then outsources the project to (mostly foreign) builders who then carry out the actual work. The Polish/Ukrainian crew that was appointed to work on our project clearly lacked resources (people) and experience to successfully carry out such a project and problems and delays quickly started piling up. We got Lofts and Extensions / DontMoveExtend involved but they were slow to react to our complaints and multiple requests for support and in the end left us to deal with the builder directly. A total shamble! Avoid these guys at all costs not least because I doubt they will be around for much longer.

Sounds like their marketing back-fired from these responses!

Torri23 · 08/05/2020 13:41

Avoid these 'builders'!

It is a scam company which builds using Polish builders.
The company takes 20% of the build as their fee and then the builders use 80% of the cost to build the project paying no VAT, NI, or tax.

My neighbour and I are having to rebuild our party wall because the builder used lightweight block to build it and the sound is just going through it like it does not exist.

Loofah01 · 08/05/2020 16:29

Find a local company that is recommended by locals (but not their own family members etc)!

I just been contacted by Mumsnet as these builders want to shut down all criticism of them. They are threatening to take Legal Action for defamation. The easy way to respond is to allow Mumsnet to delete the post which is why you see so my deleted posts on the thread above.

Here is my reply to Mumsnet.
Hi Becky.
I stand by my post.

The company my neighbour and I contracted with has been placed into liquidation and a new version of this company has emerged from the ashes trading under the same trading name 'Don't Move Extend'. The 10 year guarantee offered as part of the build became worthless after a couple of years.

I have written to HMRC on a number of occasions asking them to investigate the previous company and its Suppliers for VAT, Tax, and N.I. fraud.

Torri23 · 13/07/2020 18:05

I have included 2 images of my neighbour's roof which was built by Polish builders under a Loft and Extensions contract. The builders bought the finest materials that Selco sell.

On the front and rear elevations the tiles are 2 different colours. If that was my house it would dissappoint me every time I looked at it.

I did wonder why my neighbour had not taken L&E to court and he advised me that the old L&E company had been disolved and so the guarantee was worthless.

Look at these images and ask yourself why would anybody chose to contract with these people.

The builder was a very pleasant chap, Marek. The trouble is that whilst the building doesn't leak and so is well built on one dimension because he bought the cheapest materials he can the quality is below what is required.

Building is not an industry with very large margins so by taking 20% of the contract price as their cut L&E are forcing the builders to use the cheapest materials as without doing so how could the builder make money.

Correction:
The easy way to respond is to allow Mumsnet to delete the post which is why you see so my deleted posts on the thread above.

Should be:
The easy way to respond is to allow Mumsnet to delete the post which is why you see so many deleted posts on the thread above where posters have chosen to delete their comment rather than risk being sued by L&E if they stood buy them.

I stand by my comments and I wish that HMRC would take an interest in L&E . I think it is business based on the tax evasion of its Suppliers. If the Suppliers to L&E did not evade taxes then they would not be able to build for 80% of the contract price.
Regards
T

Agreed. Please don’t be bullied by these unscrupulous characters who routinely scour the internet for negative reviews. We should be allowed to talk about their bad experiences to help prevent others falling foul of the same poor workmanship. And here’s an idea, do a good job and then people won’t want to complain about you!
