How to help neighbours being bullied by landlord

My next door neighbours are private tenants renting via a letting agent. They are lovely people and fantastic neighbours to us - we own our home.

The owner of the house keeps turning up - I have noticed him. He’s horrid.

Today they told me that he is being awful to them. Turning up, interfering with the contents of the garden/shed/garage. They feel threatened.

I think they’re vulnerable, they don’t speak much English and are clearly worried they will lose their home. I want to help them but don’t know how. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

Well they need to tell the letting agency that this isn't acceptable. And they need to know that they can legally just ignore him knocking on the door.

Make sure they understand that he CANNOT arrive unannounced. THEY are protected by law and the LL must make an appointment with them in advance.

And even if he does, they still don't have to meet him or let him in...not into the house or the garden.

Then give them the number for SHELTER who are used to things like this and with dealing with tenants who don't speak English as a first language.

Thank you.

Honestly, I feel so sorry for them. He is such a pig.
