Anyone else trying to sell near York

Hello all
Our house has only just gone on the market - nice village just outside York. I'm finding it difficult to gauge what the market round here is doing (obviously, time will tell but I'm very impatient!) and looking at various posts on this board experiences do seem to differ wildly. Just wondering if there is anyone else in the area trying to sell and what their experience has been? Doesn't help that we've already seen a house we like but aren't in much of a position offer-wise.
Thank you!

Hi, we just bought a house in York (looked at about 40 around York) and also missed out on 2 cause we were not quick enough to act...What I would say...Listen to people's feedback. If you have a viewing...Ask the agent to follow up and see why this would not work etc. We gave lots of feedback on every viewing...But we sort of disheartened at times cause agent did not seem to pass the comments and just come up with another set of houses the following week.

I am trying to buy in the York area and struggling to find anything I like.

Spoke to an Agent today who agreed that there is a real shortage of properties locally and told me that I needed to be very careful about some of the over inflated prices locally. Particukarly in the City.

Can I ask which village you are you selling in Itinerant?

Thanks both, interesting
We are selling in Tollerton, near Easingwold. It's a lovely, friendly village and a great place to raise kids but ours are older now/leaving home, and with job changes we are looking to be closer to town

I think your choice of Agent is important as well.

I am quite surprised how few follow up with me after a viewing.

I am a proactive buyer, so would ring the agent if I wanted to take things further, but sometimes buyers are on the fence. A telephone call to talk through any concerns can make a massive difference.
