How long from having offer accepted to exchange of contracts on house?

Can I ask buyers how long it took them from having their offer accepted on a house to exchange of contracts?

How long is usual?

About 14 weeks for us, but you definitely need to keep in regular contact with the estate agents and solicitors - I think it would have taken longer if we hadn't as they don't seem particularly pro active about sharing information

eight months for us

4 weeks from offer accepted to moving in - no chains and a buyer for our place who licked the solicitors up the rear to good effect!

Three months and five days when we were buying from accepted offer to completion, had a chain of three. We did stall for a week or two as we hadn't exchanged on our place. The purchase wasn't dependent on it but DH wanted the certainty our sale would happen at some stage. At the point of exchange it was full steam ahead.
