Decision has to be made pronto. Sink will be located on a large whitish quartz island. Will have a second sink (stainless steel) in the utility room
Suppose it comes down to whether a draining board is required on quartz? Please help! Any thoughts much appreciated

Second, although I'm not a fan of white sink with white quartz.

KnittedBobbleHat · 22/02/2018 20:04

Second one

IheartCaptainHolt · 22/02/2018 20:07

Second one.

I've got a sink like that with wooden worktops. We bought a ceramic drainer if you want a draining board but still the undermount sink look

gamerchick · 22/02/2018 20:09

Definitely second one Grin

LovelyBranches · 22/02/2018 20:13

Depends, first if you are going more modern, second if more country type kitchen

Chicci1 · 22/02/2018 20:14

Unanimous for number two so. Although now I'm wondering if I should just stick with stainless steel! This is the worktop with a stainless steel sink. What do you think?

Love it.

AnaWinter · 22/02/2018 20:15

I like the second one too. What colour will your units be?

AnaWinter · 22/02/2018 20:17

Actually the stainless steel if the entire sink will be embedded in the quartz.

Chicci1 · 22/02/2018 20:18

Island will be painted sage green and the surrounding units are lime white which has a very subtle grey/green tinge. Going for a country kitchen look

I prefer the second one too though I do like having a drainer (sorry not helping)

Chicci1 · 22/02/2018 20:20

Sorry island isn't sage green It's f&b vert de terre! Will be all surfaced in quartz though.

Does it not hurt your back using those Belfast sinks.

JaneEyre70 · 22/02/2018 20:25

I find that stainless only looks like that in a showroom..... the reality of water marks are somewhat different Hmm. I'd go for the white.

Plumsofwrath · 22/02/2018 20:26

Whits sinks don’t look pristine for long. Stainless steel much better imo.

whereiscaroline · 22/02/2018 20:26

Stainless steel much better with white quartz I think, your third photo is lovely.

onemorecakeplease · 22/02/2018 20:27

I have a sink like no 2 but with wooden worktops.
It’s lovely but I will be replacing the wood soon with something more like yours!

Drainer is really handy tho....wish we had one but it wouldn’t look as nice!

brizzledrizzle · 22/02/2018 20:30

The belfast sink, I have one and I love it.

Pattygonia · 22/02/2018 20:31

Love the worktops! Re the sinks it’s a personal choice here but I would choose the stainless steel one every time both for looks and practicality.

When we moved in here, the kitchen had a ceramic sink that looked like your first picture and the utility had a butler sink similar to the second. I really hated them both and they were a nightmare to keep clean. Maybe I am very messy or maybe these were terrible quality examples, but eg kids paint pots being washed up seemed to temporarily stain them and the butler sink in particular seemed to be scratched around the plug hole.

When we redid the kitchen the one thing I wanted to change the most was the sink. Have now got a plain stainless steel one in the utility and a corian one with a stainless steel base in the kitchen and I love them both.

Aragog · 22/02/2018 20:32

Second one. We have a Belfast type sink, with a wood surface. Been in nearly 3 years, still white. Though I guess it doesn't get so much use really as we use the dishwasher more. We have a drainer on the side that drains into the sink for when we do wash things in the sink.

MacaroniPenguin · 22/02/2018 20:55

Sorry if this is a really stupid question, but how does it work with no draining board?

I love a ceramic sink personally. Just scrub with cream cleanser and bleach occasionally. Whereas my stainless steel one looks less than pristine much quicker.

BubblesBuddy · 22/02/2018 20:57

I have a double Belfast and no drainer. We drain in the second sink. A second sink is way more useful than a drainer if you can fit it in.

I have a veg prep sink in the kitchen as well and that is stainless steel. It’s a bit scratched. The Belfast is pristine.

Definitely go for a decent double sink if you can.

ShellsBells76 · 22/02/2018 21:02

Stainless Steel.... we have Quartz tops with Stainless Steel undermount and have draining grooves cut into the Quartz.

Ivebeenaroundtheblock · 22/02/2018 21:08

Excuse the mess. I have a blanco double sink with draining board because I do dishes 3 times a day. Now I love the look of the Belfast sink but I dislike drying racks.
So think about how you use your sink.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 22/02/2018 21:11

If you go for the sink without the drainer then you can have groves cut into the countertop for drainage. My sink is stainless steel so not like either of those, but it's set under the counter like your second photo and it suits me very well.
