We have a Jetmaster built-in for one room and a Charnwood freestanding in another room but sitting in a deep fireplace.

rugbychick1 · 21/01/2018 17:31

2pups we have exactly the same stove! We love it. Kicks out the warmth

Chocolatear · 21/01/2018 17:52

We have a Chesney Salisbury not sure which number.
Chose the plainest one we could find. Love it and it warms the room beautifully.

BarbaraOcumbungles · 21/01/2018 18:01

Oh cake that is gorgeous 😍

In fact they’re all gorgeous!

How much heat to they actually put out in reality?

Ours is rated at 8kW. It's in a large inglenook in a draughty room, but it heats the space beautifully.

Partyfops · 21/01/2018 18:17

Chilli penguin in grey, it's lush!

Cake20189 · 21/01/2018 18:17

Mine is super warm it’s great! And looks beautiful in the summer when not in use

BarbaraOcumbungles · 21/01/2018 18:27

Would it warm the whole house or just the room? Do you guys leave yours on overnight?

OP posts:
Costacoffeeplease · 21/01/2018 18:35

We sometimes leave ours on overnight

It depends on the size of your room, but the guy will recommend what size you need in kw, then you can decide on the right model

IMO freestanding is much better as the whole thing heats up and acts as a radiator

sparklepops123 · 21/01/2018 18:35

Need to leave internal doors open , ours warms upstairs well but not second reception room- on same level but down hallway ,also get a stove fan to circulate the heat

Snowyjoey · 21/01/2018 18:38

We have a Dovre 250. It's a basic model and just 4.5kw but kicks out a huge amount of heat! I think the key is to pick a cast iron stove...my grandparents and my SIL both have steel stoves and they are nowhere near as warm.

We have an Esse 5kW. Yes I'd recommend it.

It's a multifuel stove (though we've only ever used wood in it). It heats our fairly large living room (with through arch to hallway and stairs, and open door to kitchen) to a very pleasant 20 - 22 degrees C, and takes the chill off the kitchen and upstairs. It does burn through the wood quicker than we thought it would, though, and the fond images we had of keeping it smouldering overnight/throughout the day (encouraged by the bloke we bought it from) were nonsense - to keep it in the optimal operation zone (ie high enough temperature that it's not creating creosote and knackering the chimney liner or creating a fire risk), you need to keep it burning merrily and feed it a log every hour or so. With a larger stove and therefore a larger log box, you could probably stoke it up and keep it going overnight, but not ours; it's too diddy. Any bigger, though, and we'd be sitting here in bikinis, because it does chuck the heat out!

We love it - such a cosy feeling sitting here with it glowing and crackling. Smile

Frantically scribbling names and ideasGrin

Snowyjoey · 21/01/2018 18:40

I stick a couple of big logs on ours overnight and the heat in the room can dry a full airer of washing Smile

SueSueDonahue · 21/01/2018 18:43

Currently a Charnwood.

I looked it up though and it cost the landlady £1500 🙈

But it is actually much much much better than three AGA ones we had before in different houses (two different styles of them) so I wouldn't buy an Aga one again.

BuzzKillington · 21/01/2018 18:44

Our Charnwood was almost £2k - they are expensive.

AuntieMay · 21/01/2018 18:47

Ours is a Dean Forge Henbury 6 (multi fuel)
I love it!

Here it is when it'd just been installed (with new floor too Smile).

Oh and yes yes to the stove fan. Our chimney sweep told us to get one and we think it works at dispersing the heat.

For those keen on British made, including all components.

FAB!

DevilTree · 21/01/2018 19:32

I think (but am not 100% sure - you'd need to check!) that Esse are British made too. They're certainly a British company, and I think they're manufactured here too.

That doesn’t sound good mtpaektu. I’d want to use ours every day when it was cold and I don’t much fancy cleaning the glass every day!

sparklepops123 · 21/01/2018 19:54

To clean the glass dab slightly wet kitchen roll in some of the ash and rub , comes up a treat !
