Looks like a roof light to me. I've just got one from sterling build, they were the cheapest I could find for a decent size. Not installed yet but hoping for similar amts of light!

Roof light, but not like a velux. Could it be a gabled window (camera angle cutting off edges)? Basically like the roof of a conservatory but flat/angled single sheet glass?

Our is 1.5m x 1m and was £1500.

It's a rooflight. Mine is 3m x 1m and cost £3k.

I've achieved similar with a velux in my chalet bungalow. This one is wood framed but in the upstairs bathroom I have upvc which is totally white.
It's lovely, really floods light down into my 12 X 12 square hall.

When I had the bathroom one replaced a couple of years ago the window itself was less than £500, however, the associated roof works bumped the cost up. You want someone who really knows how to fit roof Windows to get neat finishes both inside and out.

Thanks for the information. Black that looks great, I wonder what would let more light in one big one or two smaller ones side by side? Presumably the former? What about costs? The two smaller ones would surely be more labour intensive for the chippie, thus cost more.

We have a velux in that position. Your pic looks like a rooflight (non opening). Velux doesn't look as neat but is brilliant for ventilation on hot days - ours is on a remote controlled motor and shuts itself if rain starts.

If you just have a large glass window it will be tricky to clean.

A velux will pivot so you will be able to stand on tall ladder to wipe off any bird droppings!
