Neff Combi Oven / Microwave

I'm looking at getting some sort of Neff double oven combo for new kitchen, initially thought slide n hide plus combi microwave. However, a friend has just had one installed and doesn't recommend at all - says it needs to cool after oven use before it can be used as a mw and fiddly to use. Any experiences here?

I'm keen on it but def want to be able to blast things in mw easily.

Thanks!

Following for exactly the same reasons!

I haven't had any issues with my combi so far, we went for slide and hide, combi and warming drawer. We don't tend to use the microwave function often though just every now and again, so haven't experienced the issue with it needing to cool.

I have this. I have a compact microwave/ grill / oven without slide and hide, and then a normal sized slide and hide oven with loads of cooking options. I actually use the compact oven a lot more than the main oven but...

I have kept my old microwave from before the renovation and use that for microwaving. I have only used the neff microwave once. Not sure why as the old microwave is in the utility room to try and break my habit. It is a very good microwave though.

We planned our kitchen around a Neff H&S oven with a matching combi microwave and warming draw alongside.

The Neff Combi Microwave is actually a very poorly spec'd microwave on paper. Plus the crazy cost of the Neff combi meant we went for 2 H&S ovens in the end and kept our old microwave in the utility room.

If you have space for a separate microwave, it's an option worth considering as you'll end up with a much better microwave, a much bigger second oven and a good few hundred pounds in your pocket.

Just reread my post and realised it was misleading. It is my old microwave that is the really good one and that is why I continue to use it despite it being located in the utility room.

The neff combination microwave, used once, is ok, just ok. If it was all I had, I would cope but it really isn’t as good as a dedicated one.

I'm having the same dilemma over this. We currently have a makeshift kitchen whilst the new extension is being build and we have a Panasonic microwave/combi oven which is amazing. That said, I'm not keen on the look of microwaves on the side and would prefer a built in one.

The one in John Lewis gets pretty good reviews tinyurl.com/yc4tuz55 although some are poor. I think I'll end up buying it to make the sacrifice for good looks unless I can find another brand with great reviews for a single oven and a combi oven/microwave. That said, I really love the idea of a slide and hide.

We have the Bosch version and I like it a lot. I haven't had a problem with cooking and then microwaving.

TefalTester123 · 02/01/2018 10:25

I have a Neff Combi and hardly ever microwave in it. The main reason is that the power ratings are 90W, 180W, 350W, 600W, 1000W - ie nothing around the 750-800 range that is normally used on ready meal packaging. Might have changed, but watch out for this.

SleepFreeZone · 02/01/2018 10:27

I have exactly this abd I have no problems. We have the Neff slide and hide underneath and the combo microwave over the top. Life is good 🤗

TefalTester123 · 02/01/2018 10:28

Also, I had the option of slide and hide but didn't go for it. I absolutely never miss it, but would definitely not do without the pyrolytic cleaning.

Loueytb3 · 02/01/2018 10:32

We've got one (in rented). I would never buy one. The touchscreen controls drive me mad - it can take ages to turn on while you are frantically pressing the buttons (it's a known problem apparently). I don't think the microwave is that good, and you have to go through a million menus to just do a simple operation.

We are moving and are having a new kitchen put in the house we are buying. I am going to go for two ovens and a separate microwave based on our experience.

I most live in a parallel universe sometimes I think as there's so many things mumsnetters hate that I have no issues with at all. I can only assume my standards are exceptionally low 🙊

Crumbelina · 02/01/2018 11:10

Sleep, I don't think it's just Mumsnet. The John Lewis reviews are just as mixed. Confused I guess it's a bit of a Marmite product.

OldUggBoot that's interesting as we just had two stainless steel strips down either side. The bit we had difficulty with was a wooden filler piece that sat above which needed it's own stainless steel strip. I'll take a photo when I go downstairs.

I read that people had issues with the slide and hide door coming off down the line so I'm trying to make sure I treat it carefully 😬

I've heard bad things about the combi ovens as microwaves. So I went for 2 ovens and then a dedicated microwave in the utility room instead. The bonus is that you get loads of oven capacity, and a microwave that works as a microwave.

SleepFreeZone · 02/01/2018 12:32

OldUgg I get you 👍

Crumbelina · 02/01/2018 12:38

Sorry to highjack the thread but I have a few queries. If I went for this configuration would I need strips? Also, does anyone know if the combi has a defrost function? Lastly, how do you clean it? Am assuming it's not pyrolytic?

That looks very much like a cover strip beneath the combi, crumb??

I can see the strips down the side on the first appliance.

The combo has a defrost function by taking the watts right the way down to around 100. It's cleaning function seems to involve steam cleaning and wiping from what I've read.

Crumbelina · 02/01/2018 12:43

Oh, I thought that was a warming drawer? Hopefully one will fit under the combi to even up the configuration.
