If you had to move to West Bromwich where would you live?

My OH has got a job in West Brom so I need a bit of advice on nice areas to live within say 45 mins commute. We have two toddlers so need somewhere safe with good nursery, primary schools, park, playground, library etc. And a coffee shop, pub etc would be good too. A large village would be ideal, or villagey-feeling area of a town - somewhere with a bit of community and a few shops so I don't have to get in the car to go into town every day. Thanks for any help!

I live here and it has all the facilities that you describe. Takes me 45 mins to get to Tipton which is the other side of west brom from here

Thanks! That's somewhere I hadn't considered and definitely fits the bill. We're going next weekend to try and find somewhere to rent so I'll definitely have a look at the area.

It depends how much you want to spend. Harborne would fit your criteria and be within a decent commute but is expensive, several areas in Sutton would also work and Wylde Green is good as pp said. If you need somewhere cheaper then maybe worth considering Halesowen or Quinton, or Romsley which is more villagey. Worth knowing that there are major roadworks on that stretch of the M5 at the moment which will impact the commute for the next year or so.

CheeseEater - thanks, that's really helpful, will add those areas to the list for the weekend recce. I think we'll be renting for a good while before we can afford to buy, so it's that trade-off between spending less to save for a deposit but still having somewhere big enough for a growing family. Hopefully no more than £850-900 a month for a three bed, have no idea if that's possible in any of those areas! Useful to know about the M5 too, I'm sure that's frustrating a lot of commuters!
