What product to use to make pine/wooden picture frames matt black /blue?

Paint or a spray product?
I’d like all my wooden framed pictures up the stairs to look uniform in style and colour so I’m going to attempt to update them.
No idea where to start.

I also want to re hang them without using nails. We seem to knock them off constantly and it damages the wall when the hook comes out.

Hi Op I use any paint that I have around, if I use emulsion I lightly wax it so to protect it from chipping/flaking, also use gloss or eggshell if want a slightly shiny finish.
I find spray paint a bit awkward to use, as it's difficult to stop from dripping.
Try proper picture hooks for hanging frames, you can get sets of them in different sizes in places like Homebase/wilko.

Acrylic paint is available in a wide range of colours adhere to wood and many plastics and there's no need to seal it once dry. Try a test on the back of the frame first. Apply with a flat nylon brush or sponge brush to minimise brush marks.

When hanging a painting, use screws and rawlplugs (or equivalent for plasterboard walls) rather than the 'picture pin' type of thing sold in craft shops which just won't bear much weight at all and are in my view worse than useless. Yes this will make holes in the wall but it's the safest way, especially if the pictures are on the stairs and could potentially fall on heads. I would use two screws per picture to making hanging it level easier. Use picture wire not string for strength and safety.
