apart from rich ones!

I was looking on zoopla at houses in London and am just trying to figure out, who owns these sort of priced homes, apart from footballers and pop stars?

what sort of jobs would the owners do??

Pretty much just footballers and pop stars. Oil heirs?

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 12/09/2017 16:43

It might not have been 8m when they bought it?

DuckOffAutocorrectYouShiv · 12/09/2017 16:44

Bankers, hedge funders, CEO's of large companies (the 'invisible' wealthy, i.e. non celebs).

KarateKitten · 12/09/2017 16:44

Entrepreneurs, business owners who sold business for a lot, senior partners at law firms.

You'd be surprised how people have become millionaires. Often via unglamorous industries.

Russian business owners. Lottery winners. Very successful city types - fund managers etc. And all of the above.

Not me, sadly!

People who bought decades ago and stretched themselves senseless at the time, taking a huge gamble that paid off

RatRolyPoly · 12/09/2017 16:50

Foreign dignitaries and overseas investors who leave them standing empty.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 12/09/2017 16:52

Foreign corporate entities. Though property tax has changed over the last few years so not as lucrative as before but still very popular as an investment

Efferlunt · 12/09/2017 17:11

Business registered in the Cayman Islands usually

My best friend aged 29 purchased a £6.5m property recently and is married to a Merchant Banker. It was with cash & they still have a £4m countryside pad.

My dentist is also just as wealthy (probably because he's had so much money off me!!!)

My parents are wealthy and accrued it just by being incredibly tight. Embarrassingly tight.

I don't think you get wealthy by being tight. I guess it helps a little.

My Dad used to say you don't become really rich by working for someone else. Be self employed.

The richest people I know have multiple properties and let them out. They also have good advisers e g.accountants, lawyers.

The rich ones (somehow) bought these properties at the right time in just the right place. They take brave decisions too.
