Packers (hopefully) coming tomorrow. Is there anything I need to do tonight?

I'm panicking. I haven't stopped today. I've packed up some stuff myself as I was jittery (company know this).

So they are coming tomorrow. I've been told to provide a sandwich for them and cups of tea etc. So of out to get some bits.

Is there anything else I need to do? I'm exhausted and on my own. Covered in dust from emptying understairs and finding more if exH crap

Do I really just let them in and try do it all? Will they be annoyed that I haven't taken pics off walls? I need to put all paperwork into a big bag and hide in car to shred later in week. Is there anything else you advise I hide lol?

All I want to do is shower and pour wine!

Pack all your underwear in a suitcase. I would take pictures off the wall unless they're really heavy ones. I'd pack photos separately and keep hold of them myself. Do you have a computer? Printer? Memory sticks?

Ok. Didn't think about underwear. I'm not actually moving until Friday and was told to leave clothes in drawers and wardrobes. But you think I should still pack underwear?

Ok. So after shop for supplies to keep them going tomorrow.
I need to bag up paperwork (embarrassing just how much there is. Mostly to do with disastrous house move) and out in car to deal with another day. Suitcase with underwear in. I've out work bag and laptop in boot so they don't get mislaid and packed.

I'm feeling a bit panicky! Has anyone had packers? If I tell them not to pack the virgin box (as it needs to go back to them) will they leave it alone? I was thinking of asking them to do the kitchen and kids rooms and I can finish off what I've nearly finished in living room and dining room...

Have you got any post it notes? I would put them on things you don't want to be packed/moved. Otherwise they really will do it all. Sit down with the glass of wine!

Put post-it notes or tape a note of some kind or coloured tape onto stuff you don't want them to pack.

Compile a box of the important paperwork e.g passports, driving licences etc.

Compile a tea/coffee/kettle kit.

Pack an overnight bag plus all valuables and important paperwork to take yourself.

I've packed some semi expensive jewellery at the bottom of a box already. Do you think I should take it out?

The tape/post it idea is a good one. I wonder if I can get some at the local tesco metro

I was going to pack a small box tonight of a couple of plates, cups etc that I will take to the rental house myself and unpack ready for when we move in.

But I went their today and it's filthy! Another thing to complain about and sort Angry

Throw money at the filthy house. See if you can get a deep clean done tomorrow.

Thank you for your tips. I'm going to have to call it a night tonight and just get up early tomorrow. I have no idea what time or even if they are coming Confused

House is in chaos. But I'm going to tell myself they will have seen worse Wink. I need food and Wine

The packers haven't turned up yet. Of course, the removals office isn't open.

Tell me I can do this!

I've made a good start as couldn't sleep last night, so started packing again at 6.

Realistically, how long does it take to pack a biggish kitchen?

I'm not emptying drawers with clothes in, and leaving clothes in wardrobes.

I've got about 5 boxes of books to pack I think.

What about biggish toys? Really don't think some will fit in boxes?

Any wonderful packing tips please? BrewCake

If you've paid for packers then I would do nothing. It's their job to turn up.
As others have said, put all valuable jewellery and docs. In a bag/ case and lock in the boot of your car. Keep car and house keys on you at all times.
In a plastic crate put milk, coffee, tea, biscuits, and mugs next to kettle. Have another box with washing up liquid, tea towels, a cloth and kitchen spray for final tidy round.
Do not pack the hoover until last, or better still put it in your car at the end. Hoover up each room as it is emptied.
Finally make sure they are aware what curtains, blinds etc have to be packed! Ours forgot until I mentioned it after everything else was packed. They have their methods and just like to get on with it, the only thing they want you to do is provide endless tea/ coffee!
Hope it all goes well.

Well, I was supposed to pay them today Sad

I think we got our wires crossed as I asked for boxes so I could start myself. I thought we'd agreed he was still sending someone today.

I'm ploughing through. Actually worried I'm going to run out of boxes! Not moving until Friday, but wanted packers so I could enjoy a few days out with kids before going back to school next week.

Any positive stories of someone on their own packing up a 3 bed house on their own in a couple of days?
