Carpet queries and finding a carpet fitter in Eastbourne or surrounds

I really need to get some cheap carpet for my stairs and hallway. I have 3 boys, so I need something hard wearing. Any suggestions? Also, if I want to buy the carpet online, any company and website recommendations? Thanks so much. smile Sara X

We've just bought from the Big Red Carpet Company online and we bought underlay from them as well. We've previously bought underlay, grippers and door bars from Trade Priced, but it wasn't worth incurring two lots of delivery charges with buying the carpet elsewhere this time.

Go for a 80:20 wool:synthetic mix in as heavy a weight as you can afford and it should wear and last really well or a good quality polypropylene. I can't recommend anything specific there as we only I had polypropylene in a bedroom which didn't get much traffic. Heathery carpets are best for hiding dirt and mid colours rather than very dark or very light are the most forgiving. Good quality underlay will help the carpet last.

Have found that Carpet Right are quite reliable and ok price wise. We managed to negotiate with them on price to a level we were happy with and they were very flexible with moving our fitting dates around when the builders messed us around. Just beware of their never ending sale! Don't pay full price on anything there. Additionally, you can get much better quality underlay online for cheaper than they offer and they can fit it for you for a small fee.
