Seat for steam room- what to top it with?

Hello
We're installing a shower/steam room in our en-suite- basically it's a large shower cubicle built all the way up to the ceiling, with a normal shower head/controls then a steam generator built in to the wall behind it with steam outlets piped in. We're tiling the floor and walls, then will probably mosaic/board the ceiling, but I don't know what to top the seat with (builders have built it out of studwork so it's integrated, not a separate seat if you know what I mean).
I've been told slate might get sharp edges over time and I don't think I want something so dark anyway. Builder suggested a quartz off-cut but the edges would need rounding down which could get pricey (or could it?). Any other ideas? The tiles will be a concrete-y looking affair. Would prefer one piece of something rather than more tiles...
Cheers!
Laura

The steam rooms I've been in have all had mosaic tiles on the seating.
