Delivery of large appliances to second floor of property

Does anyone have experience of this? I was just about to click 'buy' on a large American style fridge freezer when I suddenly got cold feet.
Our kitchen is on the second floor (town house style of property) but has external access on either side of house. One side has straight, steep steps. The other side has random height, angled steps (actually railway sleepers). Obviously inside has a staircase but it contains a 45degree turn and is fairly narrow.
So overall the access is there but it's not straightforward for a large, heavy appliance. I know some places won't deliver further than the doorstep but some will go the extra mile.
Any experiences??

You need to check their delivery FAQs (or ask) - you want "specified room" delivery. They may refuse, or ask you to pay extra. And do check that it will physically fit up the stairs!
