Why would our plumber have glued in our drain trap in our new shower?

Aren't you supposed to clear it out (all the hair and gunk) every month or so?

Are you sure it has been glued in? The shower trap in one of our showers is weirdly hard to remove unless you have the special knack. I guess if water can get down then you can use drain cleaner regularly to keep it smelling nice and flowing freely?

I've tried and tried. He was re-grouting the shower for us. The shower trap lifted off quite easily before he came round. Why would he do this and what can I do. He's not responding to my calls.

Does it definitely not twist off? If he has stuck it down then that's not good, surely

picklemepopcorn · 04/07/2017 14:57

Is it a new trap which attaches differently? Ours twists out. It's stiff though.

iknowimcoming · 04/07/2017 15:10

Maybe he broke it and has glued it back together?

user1499119847 · 05/07/2017 12:23

It's not a new trap. It's the same one that I clean regularly. So angry as it's a nearly new shower and tray (£££s)

Me neither creme, I've been shoving a pair of old tweezers down the tiny holes to hoik the hair ball out.

CremeFresh · 05/07/2017 13:02

Same here ! I've fashioned a hook thingy by straightening out a safety pin and tying it to a length of string.

dementedpixie · 05/07/2017 13:07

Mine is like the one in the video. We had a different one before but you could still remove the inner bit of the plughole for cleaning.

MrsBadger · 05/07/2017 13:34

(Top tip: buy cheap Immac from poundland, squirt whole tube down shower plughole. Leave an hour or two. Flush with hot water. Magic)

user1499119847 · 05/07/2017 13:51

Thing is it's not only hair. The innards of the trap (there's a little cup that pulls out) are always slimey - I take an old toothbrush and clean it. Can't know. Slime stays.

I tried that Immac thing when we were renting a house and the bath drain looked awful. Didn't work.

ah it does only do hair.
slime needs the drain gel in the black bottle

(I think he stepped on it, broke it, and has either wedged it or glued it. I bloody hate plumbers)
