Can you use linoleum (not vinyl) over wet underfloor heating?

& how much depth do you need (or add) for wet underfloor heating?

In screed or on plates?

I don't really know - last time I investigated it was screed but plates sound interesting (retro fit to existing concrete floor so I anticipate there is an insulation issue)

Yes, I think you can in theory, but whether you want to in practice is another matter - I may be wrong here, but I think you might need a plywood subfloor on which to lay the lino, which would go over the pipes and potentially reduce the effectiveness of the system. You can get really good heat conductive porcelain tiles now, in all kinds of finishes including some that aren't far off lino, so maybe check that out as an alternative?

Low profile retrofit UFH over solid floor?

18mm for most systems

15mm for the slimmer systems like Polypipe's Overlay-Lite

Unless you are using plates over joists in which case it won't raise the floor level. Or if you are having regular UFH buried in screed which also doesn't raise the floor level.

Do you have/like ufh?

You can get very large format tiles that almost butt up to each other so very little grout. They work very well with underfloor heating and better than lino I would have thought.

I just like the idea of linoleum (can't bare vinyl tho) and it's supposed to be very good for people with asthma
