Looking for guidance on this. I'm looking to buy a flat in zone 1 and when l mentioned to a colleague he was aghast. He said that l should wait till the New Year as there's a chance JC will be PM and if so the property market will crash big time. Is he talking rubbish?

Stukrut, but the US has loads of land to build on. We don't. Also have you seen the price of property in most of the US. Was watching a programme yesterday where someone bought a doer upper for $25000. For a married couple the $500000 tax exemption for most of the US would mean that for the majority it wouldnt apply.

McDonnell is the one to worry about. He is a self-confirmed Marxist (he has been filmed more than once publically affirming his allegiance to Marxism). Marx's vision was a socialist 'utopia' but wrote that 'a bloody revolution would occur before it was achievable). What he meant was this: That in making all property the ownership of the state, ownership would have to be removed from the private owners. He recognised private owners would not willingly give up their possessions - hence a bloody revolution. These days, a bloody revolution isn't so necessary. All McDonnell has to do is raise interest rates and taxes to squeeze the life out of (property owners), cause widespread repossessions and of course, crash the market... leading the way for state intervention and control. I truly believe we are walking our children blindfold into pseudo-communism.. with all the political correctness and trial-by-media.. etc. This particular Labour party era will crash our economy because by doing so, they will be able to kick-start their ideology.. and if you value your freedoms, you won't give them the chance. (Sorry to be so negative but please read McDonnell's history and please read Marx)

Everything will crash, if Labor get in I am expecting a similar situation to Venezuela.

PigletJohn · 10/03/2018 14:37

It's nice to see the anti-Labour mob so terrified that they continue to make up wild horror stories.

Some of them would have you believe that Britain is a one-party state.

Theresa's government is propped up by a bunch of quarrelling politicians whose desire to see her go is exceeded only by the certain knowledge that they will go with her.

Viviennemary · 10/03/2018 14:39

Corbyn won't be PM. It just won't be allowed IMHO.

PigletJohn · 10/03/2018 15:51

Are you suggesting a military coup to overthrow the elected government?

mumsworth · 13/03/2018 23:00

PigletJohn: I'm definitely not anti-Labour - I'm anti Marxism/Communism and the current Labour leadership are busily ousting traditional moderate Labour MPs and installing hard left candidates in their places. These people are not the Labour party I support, they are hijacking the party infrastructure and voter base because like it or not, there are many thousands of voters who vote because 'I've always voted Labour', rather than having any political savvy. This current bunch of Marxists recognise this and are cold-bloodedly getting ready to use these Labour party loyal-but-not-so-knowledgable voters to get into power.. and heaven help us if they do. If you really think the UK would do better under a McDonnell regime I'd question your reasoning.

Goodness, there would be far bigger problems than the price of houses!!
